Karsa Retires After An 11 Year Professional League Career

Taiwanese League of Legends has challenged the best in the world. CTBC Flying Oyster was an example of that this year. The Taipei Assassins were another in 2012. Another Taiwan roster that stood out was Flash Wolves, who had Hung “Karsa” Hau-hsuan as their Jungler. Recently, he announced his retirement from playing League of Legends professionally, citing a new chapter on the horizon.

In a recent video, Karsa announced his retirement. He mentioned that it is the end of Karsa. He has made promises to stream more, but has made no further comments on his future. He might return in another capacity, perhaps as a coach or caster, something other former professional players have done already. That brings an end to an illustrious 11-year career. In those 11 years, he played in some of the best LPL rosters: Top Esports, Royal Never Give Up, and Weibo Gaming. He formed part of the Flash Wolves roster alongside Maple. In recent times, he played for CTBC Flying Oyster and his last team, PSG Talon, for which he qualified for the World Championship.

Karsa’s Achievements

During his time on RNG, Karsa managed to win two LPL Splits and a Mid-season Invitational title. The title wins came in the same year, 2018. He helped Jian “Uzi” Zihao win his first and only titles on the RNG Roster. Later in 2020, on Top Esports, he would lift the LPL trophy once more, entering the World Championship as favourites. However, the streak of poor TES results at the World Championship began in 2020, as they suffered a shock defeat in the semi-finals. Since then, Karsa has only managed to qualify for an international event once. That being the 2025 World Championship on PSG Talon, which saw them exit alongside Fnatic as the 15th and 16th placed teams.

A Community Saddened

After a successful year for the Taiwan League of Legends, they have faced a bitter reality. CFO lost four of its players in the form of Shen “Driver” Tsung-hua, Tsai “HongQ” Ming-hong, Yu “JunJia Chun-chia, and Ling “Kaiwing” Kai-wing. Driver is currently teamless. HongQ and JunJia moved to Jindong Gaming, and Kaiwing joined Vivo Keyd Stars. Maple’s participation in 2026 is unlikely. He came out of retirement for the Summer Split, but predominantly did so to help out PSG.

The loss of Karsa on top of that is going to sting for the community. Karsa is not the only LCP jungler to announce his retirement. Long-standing GAM Esports Jungler, Đỗ “Levi” Duy Khánh, retired over a month ago. A void has been left in the LCP, but who will move in to take over and build towards hope?
