Worlds 2025 Anthem Debate: Has League Lost Its Musical Magic?
Alright, let’s talk about the League of Legends Worlds 2025 anthem. The yearly debate over which anthem slaps the hardest is a tradition as old as the tournament itself. Some of us will ride or die for “Rise,” others still get chills from “Legends Never Die,” and the OG fans? They’ll defend “Warriors” with their last breath. But let’s be real, the last couple of years have felt a bit…off. “Star Walkin'” and “Gods” were fine, I guess, but they felt more like Lil Nas X and NewJeans songs that just happened to be about League, rather than a true Worlds anthem crafted from the ground up.
With the 15th anniversary on the line, the pressure is on for the 2025 anthem to deliver something legendary. So, who’s stepping up to the plate?
What is the New Worlds 2025 Anthem?

Riot Games has officially announced that Chinese superstar G.E.M. (Gloria Tang Tsz-kei) will be performing this year’s anthem. If you’re not familiar, she’s often called “China’s Taylor Swift” for her powerful vocals and deeply personal songwriting. She even did the title track, “Light Years Away,” for the Chinese release of the movie Passengers. She’s a massive deal in Asia, and she’s a legit fan of LoL esports, which is always a good sign.
G.E.M. herself said she’s been “deeply moved by the fighting spirit on stage,” and wants to capture that feeling in her music. That’s the kind of passion we need! She gets it. She understands the sacrifice and the drive that fuels these players.
But she’s not alone. Joining her is Italian DJ Anyma, whose futuristic, heavy-bass electronic style sounds like it was ripped straight out of a Cyberpunk 2077 nightclub. Honestly, his track “Eternity” is an absolute banger. The combination of G.E.M.’s pop-rock power ballads and Anyma’s dark, pulsing techno is… a choice. It’s a bold, weird, and potentially brilliant pairing that has me genuinely intrigued. This could be a spectacular trainwreck or the most epic anthem we’ve ever had. Either way, I’m here for the ride.
The music video is set to drop in October, so we don’t have long to wait to see how this wild experiment turns out.
Who Else is Performing at the Opening Ceremony?
As if G.E.M. and Anyma weren’t enough, Riot is bringing back some fan favorites for the opening ceremony in Chengdu. The one and only Chrissy Costanza, voice behind the iconic “Legends Never Die” and “Phoenix,” will be there. She’ll be joined by TEYA, who you might recognize from Eurovision 2023. Together, they’re promising a show that blends music and storytelling with some mind-blowing visuals to celebrate 15 years of esports history. This isn’t just a concert; it’s a full-blown spectacle.
A New Summoner’s Cup That Honors the Past

The Summoner’s Cup is also getting a glow-up, and thank the LoL gods, it’s a good one. After the sleek, but kind of soulless, Tiffany & Co. design from 2022, Riot is bringing back the classic silhouette. Yes, the five hooded Summoner figures from the original lore are back! It’s a fantastic nod to the game’s roots, a time when we were the Summoners bringing champions to the Rift.
This new version is also nearly half the weight of the last one, so we hopefully won’t have to watch players struggle to lift it. The base is engraved with every Worlds-winning team from Fnatic in 2011 to T1’s victory in 2024, a literal timeline of greatness. It feels like a trophy that truly honors the legacy of the game.
What About In-Game Goodies?
Of course, Riot is bringing the celebration in-game. With patch 25.20, we’re getting new elite chromas for two legendary skin lines: 2017 Samsung Galaxy and 2018 Invictus Gaming. It’s about time these older champions got some love! This is a cool way to honor the teams that built the sport, especially with Invictus Gaming reuniting some of their original roster and Gen.G (SSG’s successor) coming into Worlds as a dominant force.
Overall, this 15th-anniversary celebration is shaping up to be something special. While I’m still a little skeptical about the anthem, the return of the classic Summoner’s Cup and the stacked lineup for the opening ceremony have me hyped. Riot seems to be remembering its history and giving nods to the legacy that made League of Legends the global phenomenon it is today. Now, let’s just hope the anthem is more “Warriors” and less “whatever that was in 2022.”
