MSI 2025 Opening Day

MSI 2025 Day 14 Preview: Who Else But Faker and Chovy in the Final

The LCK knew they did not need to give us T1 versus GenG Esports during the regular season. They knew we would get the two LCK rivals facing off twice at MSI. GenG were victorious in their first meeting, but it could have gone either way. The storied rivalry between Faker and Chovy continues. Will GenG win back-to-back MSI titles, or will T1 lift the trophy for the first time since 2017, and give Doran his first international accolade?

MSI Day Fourteen Schedule

The Grand Final between the LCK giants begins at 5:00 pm PT (2:00 am, July 13th). For those interested, there is a one-hour pre-show to build up the Grand Final as announced by Sjokz before signing off yesterday.

A New Chapter In A Historic Rivalry

GenG and T1, Chovy and Faker. They have faced off in the LCK Grand Finals on many occasions. GenG and Chovy have been victorious against T1 in those matches. Since GenG’s inception, the two teams have never played each other in an international Grand Final. Chovy has always been built up as the successor to Faker, but internationally, he has yet to succeed. Today is his chance to begin that journey.

Chovy versus Faker is not the only rivalry in this series. Ruler and Faker have traded blows in international events. Faker denied Ruler at Worlds 2016 and 2023. Ruler defeated Faker at Worlds 2017 and MSI 2023. Ruler emerged victorious in the Upper Bracket Final at this MSI. Faker has a chance to respond and silence that victory.

International Accolades

Internationally, Doran has been the weak link on teams despite his domestic success. He reaches an international Grand Final for the first time in his career. Oner, Gumayusi, and Keria, despite their Worlds success, have not won an MSI title. Duro has never been to an international event before, so this is also his first final. Regardless of the victor, a new MSI winner is crowned today. For Doran, it is his chance to prove his doubters wrong. Oner, Gumayusi, and Keria look to cement themselves in legendary status, while Duro aims to begin a streak of international victories.

Will GenG’s Streak End? – Prediction

GenG Esports 2 – 3 T1

GenG has won 22 straight series. They aim to make that 23, with an MSI victory to cap it off. Their fabled rivals, T1, stand in their path. Something about all roads lead to Faker works well here. Storylines aside, the series could go either way. As we saw in their previous meeting, the teams traded wins back and forth. Game five was determined by one misstep from Doran. Today will likely have a similar outcome. A single play might decide the result of the series. With T1’s momentum from their victory over Anyone’s Legend and the clutch factor of this roster, they will emerge as MSI winners.
