MSI 2025 Day 7 Preview: Elimination Looming for the West
The first round of MSI Bracket Stage matches is complete. The first of the eight teams gets eliminated today. The other match battles for a place in the Upper Bracket Final. Unfortunately, for the West, G2 Esports and FlyQuest battle each other to stay at MSI. GenG Esports and Anyone’s Legend face off in the Upper Bracket Final. Both matches today should be exciting to watch.
MSI Day Seven Schedule
The elimination match is first up today. G2 and FlyQ fight at noon PST (9:00 pm CET). The loser is out, while the winner stays in MSI. Once the series is finished, GenG will take on AL.
G2 Esports Versus FlyQuest

G2 Esports 1 – 3 FlyQuest
Both teams went against the first seeds of LCK and LPL, respectively. The series played out nearly identically, with the Western teams winning game one, but they lost three in a row to drop into the Lower Bracket. Of the two teams, FlyQ put up a better performance in their loss. FlyQ took the fight against AL, while most of G2’s advantages came as a result of punishing GenG’s mistakes. G2 and FlyQ battle on Independence Day in the United States. The series should not be a blowout for either team, but unless G2 has improved, they are in trouble.
GenG Esports Versus Anyone’s Legend
GenG Esports 3 – 1 Anyone’s Legend
For most of GenG’s series, they looked out of it, struggling to find the same dominance as the Regular Season. With more time and having recovered from jet lag, GenG should perform to a significantly higher level. AL will have their work cut out for them if they want to beat the LCK giants.
Stylistically, the game will be a struggle, given that Tarzan is the driving force behind AL. Canyon had the best individual performance of any player so far at MSI, and Tarzan will need to be at his best to keep up. Chovy, who seemingly was impacted the most by jet lag, is still a force to be reckoned with, and Shanks might be out of his depth.
How the Day Will Impact Proceedings
Today, we will say goodbye to one of the Western teams in the competition. The winner of the series will await the loser of T1 versus BLG. For GenG and AL, a place in the Upper Bracket Final is up for grabs. They will await the winner of T1 and BLG, while the loser will drop down to the Lower Bracket to face the victor between Movistar KOI and CTBC Flying Oyster.
