MSI 2025 Preview: Anyone’s Legend Led to Victory by a Familiar Face
Anyone’s Legends has never been a top LPL competitor before 2025. With the addition of Tarzan in the jungle, AL has not only become competitive but has also become the best team in the region. The Mid-Season Invitational has been dominated by Chinese teams in recent years, but was stumped by GenG Esports last year. AL prepares to prevent the Korean MSI resurgence and deny any hopes of Western, South American, or Southeast Asian nations.
Anyone’s Legend Roster
- Li “Flandre” Xuanjun – Chinese Top Laner
- Lee “Tarzan” Seung-yong – Korean Jungler
- Cui “Shanks” Xiaojun – Chinese Mid Laner
- Wang “Hope” Jie – Chinese Bot Laner
- Kim “Kael” Jin-Hong – Korean Support
- Wong “Tabe” Pak-kan – Hong Konger Coach
Tarzan’s addition to the roster has done wonders for the team. AL went from the best place finish of 5th-6th in the LPL 2024 Summer Split to winning Demacia Cup 2024 and LPL Split 2 and finishing second in LPL Split 1. Tarzan earned Finals MVP in both of their Finals victories. The roster bolsters an aggressive playstyle in true Chinese fashion, aiming to hand-diff their opponents.
How They Got Here
After the disappointment of missing out on First Stand, Anyone’s Legend got back on it, outperforming the majority of the LPL competition. They remained undefeated in the Knockout Stage, notably defeating Bilibili Gaming 3-2 in the Upper Bracket Final and 3-1 in the Grand Final. Game four of the Grand Final saw Tarzan pick up Zed Jungle and earn himself a pentakill and his first LPL Split title.
Expectations
Fans recall the woes of Tarzan in the past, notably the World Championship in 2023. Tarzan had one of his worst performances against T1 for LNG Esports, which led to their downfall. If Tarzan continues his LPL form dominance, he may carry AL to their first international title. However, he faces stern competition in the jungle, so his best may not be enough. Anything short of a top-four will be a massive disappointment for AL, given they are one of the favorites to win it all.
Anyone’s Legend’s Journey
With Top Esports finishing 3rd-4th in the First Stand, AL is tied for the third seed with CTBC Flying Oyster. They will begin MSI in Tier 2, meaning they will face either FlyQuest or T1 in their first match. Victory will see them play against the winners of either GenG or Movistar KOI against their Play-Ins opponents. If they draw T1, they will be on the same side of the bracket as KOI.
