Worlds 2025: CTBC Flying Oyster Ascend Before They Crash Down
CTBC Flying Oyster was one of the significant talking points of 2025. They were the only team that qualified for every international event. CFO won every Split in the LCP. They also became the first team in the region to advance to the Worlds Bracket Stage in ten years. Unfortunately, their dreams came crashing down as they lost 3-0 to KT Rolster in the Quarterfinals.
Worlds 2025: CTBC Flying Oyster Player Review
Driver
Total Apex rating – 6.2 (7th among top laners, tied 29th among players)
Champions Played
- Sion (2)
- K’Sante
- Ornn
- Rumble
Driver and CFO set the precedent for the top lane meta at Worlds. Sion became a high-priority pick for the competition. Driver’s first two games were on the champion. He had a dominant display against T1 that helped CFO defeat the World Champions. He had limited playtime for the rest of Worlds, and hardly had an impact on the rest of his champions.
Rest
Total Apex rating – 5.4 (13th among top laners, tied 55th among players)
Champions Played
- Rek’Sai (2)
- Renekton (2)
- K’Sante
- Rumble
- Sion
Rest played more games than Driver at Worlds. His impact was similar to Driver. The only significant difference is that he played in more of CFO’s losses. He had a solid performance against KT, but not enough to help them win a game during the series. Overall, he performed to his expected level.
JunJia
Total Apex rating – 6.2 (tied 6th among junglers, tied 29th among players)
Champions Played
- Xin Zhao (4)
- Trundle (3)
- Pantheon
- Qiyana
- Skarner
- Vi
- Wukong
JunJia had dominant performances to start Worlds. He had proved why CFO qualified for all the international events in the year. He made Oner look like one of the worst junglers in the tournament with his performance. KT acknowledged him as a carry and targeted him during that series. As a result, he failed to contribute, and CFO crumbled.
HongQ
Total Apex rating – 6.3 (tied 5th among mid laners, tied 22nd among players)
Champions Played
- Ryze (4)
- Aurora (2)
- Azir (2)
- Akali
- Hwei
- Orianna
- Taliyah
HongQ was another player who contributed towards CFO qualifying for the Bracket Stage. Even in his rookie season, he has marked himself as one of the best mid laners in the world. The pressure may have gotten to him during the series against KT, as he had his weakest performances of the tournament. Part of that was due to Cuzz and Peter parking themselves in the mid lane to help Bdd.
Doggo
Total Apex rating – 6.3 (6th among bot laners, tied 22nd among players)
Champions Played
- Corki (3)
- Caitlyn (2)
- Draven (2)
- Ezreal (2)
- Kai’Sa
- Miss Fortune
- Ziggs
Doggo has made a name for himself during Worlds. He became the ADC who almost refused to step back. He kept moving forward, wanting to test the opponents. His Draven took over against T1 and FlyQuest. He secured multiple solo kills against T1, including over Gumayusi. He had high highs during Worlds, and for the rest, remained relatively consistent despite his aggressive playstyle.
Kaiwing
Total Apex rating – 5.5 (7th among supports, 54th among players)
Champions Played
- Nami (3)
- Leona (2)
- Neeko (2)
- Alistar
- Bard
- Braum
- Nautilus
- Rakan
The drafting decisions for Kaiwing during the tournament were mysterious. Kaiwing has historically struggled with ranged champions in his career. Nami, being his most-played, came as a surprise, especially given her low priority during the tournament. He did not have a terrible tournament. However, he failed to impact the pivotal matches.
CTBC Flying Oyster Team Review
CFO had a year to be proud of. They became the only team to qualify for all three international tournaments and broke records. As the only LCP team in ten years to advance to the Bracket Stage, they captured everyone’s hearts. They had the chance to go further, but the pressure and KT’s dominance prevented them from succeeding. The team has already lost JunJia, HongQ, and Kaiwing, so there will be changes in 2026.
