Worlds 2025: PSG Talon are Victims of Draw Luck
PSG Talon is another team that had low expectations for Worlds. The return of Maple did not help the team at the beginning of their LCP Season Finals run. Many never expected them to qualify for Worlds. They managed to steady the ship in time to make the international event. Luck was not on their side as they had to face GenG Esports and Hanwha Life Esports in their first games of the tournament.
Worlds 2025: PSG Talon Player Review
Azhi
Total Apex rating – 5.0 (15th among top laners, tied 71st among players)
Champions Played
- Rumble (2)
- Ambessa
- K’Sante
- Yorick
For the first game of PSG’s Worlds run, Azhi was given a lot of focus from Karsa. They targeted Kiin often in that game. But neither utilized their lead over GenG. Azhi had an okay Worlds performance, but nothing to remember. His worst game came against VKS. Overall, he performed as expected.
Karsa
Total Apex rating – 5.0 (tied 16th among junglers, tied 71st among players)
Champions Played
- Naafiri (2)
- Jarvan IV
- Vi
- Wukong
Karsa was the reason PSG made Worlds. At the start of the competition, he gave them a chance against GenG and HLE. His ganks gave PSG the lead, but they could not translate them into victories. Karsa would have had the best rating on the team, but he had a disastrous game three against VKS.
Maple
Total Apex rating – 5.4 (tied 15th among mid laners, tied 55th among players)
Champions Played
- Aurora
- Orianna
- Ryze
- Swain
- Taliyah
Maple had a stable Worlds performance. He was rarely a cause for the downfall of PSG. He had to face Chovy and Zeka in his first games, meaning he had little room to carry. Against Mireu, he had more space, but never took over. Since his return, his mechanics have been lacking. Maple not being the carry during the tournament is not surprising.
Betty
Total Apex rating – 4.4 (17th among bot laners, tied 84th among players)
Champions Played
- Caitlyn
- Corki
- Sivir
- Varus
- Xayah
Betty was never the AD carry that PSG needed to win a series. His best performance came in their victory against VKS on Varus. Even in an easier matchup against Morttheus, he failed to make his mark. Not many expected Betty to carry in Worlds, so he matched his expectations.
Woody
Total Apex rating – 4.4 (17th among supports, tied 84th among players)
Champions Played
- Braum
- Karma
- Leona
- Rakan
- Rell
Woody and Betty went hand in hand during the Worlds matches. He never had a dramatic impact on the games. Granted, as a support, you will look worse against teams that are better than you. Woody was expected to be one of the worst supports at the competition, and he never exceeded that.
PSG Talon Team Review
PSG had the unfortunate luck of facing the LCK one and two seeds. Their early games were solid, but they never translated that into a victory. They had a chance to keep their run going against Vivo Keyd Stars, but they failed to deliver. The team was plagued by illness, which contributed to their struggles during the tournament. Had they defeated VKS, the team would look brighter.
