Worlds 2025 Swiss Stage Day 9: CFO Achieves a Historic Victory

CTBC Flying Oyster made history with their victory over FlyQuest in the final day of the Worlds Swiss Stage. They became the first team from the APAC region to qualify for the Worlds Quarterfinals for ten years. Flash Wolves and ahq e-Sports Club represented the LMS in 2015. Top Esports denied the 2-0 to 2-3 curse by defeating Bilibili Gaming, while T1, carried by Faker, took down Movistar KOI to qualify for the Worlds Bracket Stage.

Worlds 2025: CTBC Flying Oyster Versus FlyQuest

Game one started in FLY’s favor. They had the lead and looked prime to take a 1-0 lead. However, Quad’s Weaver’s Wall landed him right next to Kaiwing’s Leona. CFO capitalized on the mistake and took hold of the game. After a couple more throws back and forth, CFO eventually closed out to take a 1-0 lead. Game two went from bad to worse for FLY. All at once, CFO got three kills, putting the game in a dire spot. FLY, through Inspired, managed to stem the bleeding. However, it was not enough to keep CFO at bay as the LCP first seed crushed them time and time again to make history.

Worlds 2025: Top Esports Versus Bilibili Gaming

TES and BLG showed improvements compared to their performances in previous Swiss Stage matches. They each took a game where they dominated, but also showed weaknesses during their losses. TES had a lead in the first game, but in classic TES fashion, they threw it away with one mistake. BLG ran away with the lead they gained.

In the second game, Creme and Kanavi combined to carry TES over the line. Beichuan mysteriously subbed in for BLG in game three. While he was not the reason for BLG’s loss, he had little impact. Bin and Knight kept BLG alive while Elk showed supreme mechanics. 369 had insane value on the Mordekaiser, always taking Beichuan out of the fight while Kanavi’s Qiyana and Creme’s Smolder took over.

Worlds 2025: Movistar KOI Versus T1

MKOI decided to give Faker his Azir in game one. The last time he got the champion was back in July against GenG Esports. Faker showed why you never give him the Shuriman Empire. He took over the rift, taking T1 to victory. Gumayusi had uncharacteristic mistakes, getting caught out on multiple occasions. Despite the errors, he still had clutch moments.

Game two was closer, with it going to an Elder Drake fight. T1 could never build on any advantages they gained. The draft from MKOI made it impossible for T1 to win a fight convincingly. Gumayusi’s struggles continued. Faker decided that T1 was going to the Bracket Stage as he dropped another dominant Ryze performance to carry T1 over the line. Faker went deathless throughout the series.
