Worlds 2025 Swiss Stage Day Six: G2 Becomes the Best in the West

The Worlds Swiss Stage returned today with two qualification series. CTBC Flying Oyster had their second attempt to make the Worlds Bracket Stage, while G2 Esports and FlyQuest battled for the best of the West. CFO fell once again, losing 2-0 to Hanwha Life Esports, while G2 conquered their demons. They managed to beat FLY 2-1, earning their first Quarterfinals place since the 2020 World Championship.

Worlds 2025: CTBC Flying Oyster Versus Hanwha Life Esports

CFO continued their dogged approach to League of Legends. They kept HLE on their toes throughout the series. HLE learnt the lesson from CFO’s previous series and kept Sion banned in both games. HLE managed a 2-0 win, but it was not a clean victory. The mistakes from HLE meant they allowed CFO to remain competitive. Fortunately for them, CFO made more mistakes while HLE clutched in the pivotal moments. Driver started the series, but was replaced by Rest for game two.

Worlds 2025: G2 Esports Versus FlyQuest

After losing 3-0 to FLY earlier in the year, G2 had a point to prove. Moreover, they could qualify for the Bracket Stage for the first time since 2020. The previous struggles of G2 showed up in the first game. SkewMond had no impact, while Labrov failed his plays on Bard. They recovered in the second game to even up the series. Bwipo notably struggled on Rumble, giving over too many kills to G2. G2 earned advantages in game three. However, a couple of misplays allowed FLY to get back into the game. SkewMond’s flash with Caps’ shockwave guaranteed an EU victory and qualification for the Bracket Stage.
