Ahead of the September 26 release, one gaming reporter has shared a look at what The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom map looks like. Hyrule looks a little different in virtually every single game. The only exception is Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom since they are the only two games directly linked that take place in the same exact place. Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask don’t count since one is in Hyrule and the other is in Termina. With this in mind, it’s always noteworthy how the developers have decided to lay out each version of the iconic fantasy land. Here’s the first look just over two weeks before the game comes out.
Brand-New Echoes of Wisdom Map Revealed
The first look at the newest version of Hyrule is provided by Stephen Totilo, a game reporter who got a hands-on look at the game from Nintendo. They shared a clip detailing how the map is laid out. Naturally, not much is visible. In The Legend of Zelda, the map only becomes visible when players go to that location. A huge part of the game, at least in the modern era, is to uncover every region of the map so there’s a full picture of the land.
It is easy to imagine what might be where especially after Nintendo released the trailer showcasing the locations of Hyrule. The map looks and functions exactly like the map did for 2019’s Link’s Awakening remake, which makes sense given the art direction and the similar style between these two games.
That hasn’t happened yet, so the map is blank with a few landmarks. Naturally, Hyrule Castle and Castletown are right in the center. This is one aspect of the fantasy land that is largely consistent across all Zelda games. There are other things to see, such as a house, a volcano, some bodies of water, and much more. The context of what these landmarks are or what the land actually looks like is of course being saved for players to discover when they start the game on September 27. With two major trailers and other marketing already out, all that’s left between now and the release of the game is sprinklings like this: the Echoes of Wisdom map.
Conclusion
The Legend of Zelda series has a lot of great aspects, and the land of Hyrule is one of them. The Echoes of Wisdom map, once it’s fully revealed in-game, will likely prove that once again, this version of the iconic gaming location is fantastic. Much like the Mushroom Kingdom of Super Mario, it’s been present in video games for a very long time. Every time, it’s a treat to be able to visit.
