A brand new, and presumably final, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom trailer has arrived. There are just over two weeks between now and the September 27 release date, which means it’s prime time for Nintendo to really ramp up the marketing. They’ve already released two trailers that exceed five minutes in length, which is more than most games get. In surprise fashion, the gaming company put out yet another one. This one doesn’t blaze any trails, but it does give fans a detailed look at what’s to come.
Echoes of Wisdom Trailer Highlights Unique Abilities
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is not like other games in the franchise. That much has already been made abundantly clear, from the merging of 3D abilities with 2D style or the fact that Link is now the damsel in distress to be rescued by Princess Zelda. The latest Echoes of Wisdom trailer leans into that and gives an even deeper look at all the ways this Zelda game will stand apart.
One of the biggest ways is through the use of abilities. Bind is a new one similar to Tears of the Kingdom‘s Ultrahand, and it allows objects to mirror Zelda’s movements or the Princess to mirror the objects’ movements. Automatons, not the villains from Helldivers 2, are also a brand-new addition to the franchise. Players have used gizmos before, but automatons will be a huge piece of Zelda’s arsenal. These items can be used in virtually any way, and Zelda’s echoes are much the same. This makes the classic puzzle-solving almost unique to each player.
Echoes of Wisdom Combines Elements of New and Old
We have already covered how Echoes of Wisdom is shaping up to be the perfect merger of classic and modern Zelda, but this new Echoes of Wisdom trailer takes that a step further. Most 3D Zelda games involve a horse. Typically, Epona is Link’s trusty steed, though in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom Link could have many horses. A horse is back in this game to aid in travel, which is a rarity among 2D Zelda titles. Additionally, potions and food with effects seem poised to make a return from the Breath of the Wild era. Zelda is seen in the trailer making smoothies for effects to “enhance” her abilities.
Of course, Zelda can also use different outfits to do this, much like in BOTW and TOTK. Classic characters, like the Zora, Goron, and Gerudo, are back in this adventure as well. This trailer shows a brief glimpse of the long-forgotten Redeads from Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask. Also hailing from those games and making a return are Deku Scrubs. Familiar and unfamiliar enemies, like Boarblins or Moblins, are going to give the Princess trouble on her journey as well. The Great Deku Tree is back as well, bringing all sorts of eras of this iconic franchise to one game.
In Conclusion
There is not much time remaining before this potential Game of the Year candidate is released. That means that this The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom trailer is presumably the last one. It gives an overview of everything players can expect, showcasing new abilities and highlighting the fun it seems players will undoubtedly have on September 27.
