Top 3 Elder Dragons That Should Be In Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds is five months away, and as we grow closer each week, more information regarding the game is revealed. That said, big reveals, like which Elder Dragons will be in the game, usually don’t happen until right before the game’s release. With no word on which ones will be announced, it’s time to pick the top three Elder Dragons we want to see for Monster Hunter Wilds.

Nergigante

Monster Hunter World helped bring the franchise into the limelight, with it, the game’s flagship Monster, the Eater of Elders, Nergigante. Nergigante instantly became a fan-favorite monster, from its simple design to its overwhelming power in-game. The concept is also amazing; an Elder Dragon that eats other Elder Dragons. Aside from being a fan-favorite, Nergigante would also be a great addition to the Wilds’ roster for one big reason: its ability to adapt to a new environment. As stated before, Nergigante eats other Elder Dragons as its source of food, and since other Elder Dragons aren’t easy to find, it’s constantly traveling to new environments where it must adapt to prey on its next victim.

This was shown to a great extent in Monster Hunter World, as Nergigante was available to fight in every location in the game, unlike other Elder Dragons that mostly stuck to one or two designated areas. With Wilds confirmed to be a large, open-world style game where the environment is constantly changing, Nergigante would make an excellent addition to the game, especially to help keep the new Elder Dragons in check!

Safi’jiiva

Safi’jiiva, the Sapphire of the Emperor Elder Dragon. Introduced in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, Safi’jiiva is the adult form of its predecessor, Xeno’jiiva. This Elder Dragon instantly rose to “Black Dragon” status, joining the legendary ranks of fellow Black Dragons like Fatalis and Alatreon due to its incredible power. Black Dragons are classified as the most dangerous monsters ever recorded in the franchise. Though the others, Fatalis, Alatreon, and Dire Miralis are all black in appearance, Safijiva makes the exception, as its amazing power is enough to destroy entire kingdoms.

Like Nergigante, Safi’jiiva quickly rose to fan-favorite status with its amazing visuals, gear, and jaw-dropping power in its fight. However, with its large size, it’ll be hard to try and squeeze it in somewhere in Wilds. Nonetheless, a large siege against it in a separate arena would be an amazing spectacle to see in a new environment.

Dalamadur

Introduced in Monster Hunter 4, the largest recorded monster in the franchise, Dalamadur, slithers its way onto the list. While we did say large monsters like Safijiva might pose a problem in an open-world-esque game like Wilds, if there was any choice for a large monster to be added, it should be Dalamadur. Monster Hunter Wilds seems to be taking an approach that doesn’t entirely focus on Elder Dragons or Dragon-like monsters as Monster Hunter World did.

The flagship monster, Arkveld, is not classified as an Elder Dragon, but an extinct species not yet identified.  With that in mind, while Dalamadur is classified as an Elder Dragon, its large Snake appearance would be a great addition to the down-to-earth Wilds roster. It may not be featured as the final boss for the main story, but a secret hidden fight featuring it would be an amazing spectacle. Not to mention, it’s also one of the few Elder Dragons that hasn’t been brought back with fifth-generation graphics. Seeing this behemoth of a monster in newly updated visuals on next-generation consoles would be nothing short of jaw-dropping.

In Conclusion

Monster Hunter Wilds‘ release date inches closer with every day, and there’s still plenty of unknown about what the game might include. The Elder Dragons will be a huge part of the gameplay, and they’ve not yet been revealed. This has led to speculation and excitement in the community, and we can’t wait to find out what Capcom has in store.
