What We Know About Elder Scrolls 6

For all you Nightgate Inn enthusiasts, let’s pause for a moment and delve into the exciting world of Elder Scrolls 6, the next chapter in the epic saga. Set in the vast realm of Nirn on the continent of Tamriel, this game is a melting pot of Mer Snow Elves, Nords, Atmorans, Bretons, Thalmors, Wood Elves, and a myriad of archers, Bards, Assassins, and more. Since its inception in 1994, Elder Scrolls has evolved into a gaming phenomenon, and the anticipation for its next installment is palpable.

Elder Scrolls has an impressive history

It has been six years since Bethesda announced at E3 that they are officially developing the sixth installment of The Elder Scrolls games. When they made that announcement, we had already had Skyrim for seven years. We did see a soft teaser when they announced Starfield.

Despite the lack of new visual updates, Bethesda has been diligent in keeping us in the loop about their progress in development, potential gaming consoles, and the estimated release date. This commitment to transparency is a testament to their respect for the gaming community and their understanding of our eagerness for the game.

Let’s get the bad news over first. While Bethesda hasn’t given us a different release date, they have said to basically don’t hold your breath. They have said that their current priority is Starfield, and once that’s made its way and is able to stand on its own, then their focus will change to Elder Scrolls.

Bethesda makes some of the biggest games in the business

There has been some talk and information given from Bethesda that Elder Scrolls 6 was in early development. That statement was given back in August of last year. We also heard from Xbox Head Phil Spencer a year ago that Elder Scroll 6 is “five plus years away”.

We are definitely looking around the year 2030. It’s not the best news, but regardless, it doesn’t hurt that Skyrim is so massive, and it will most likely keep fans busy until then.

Some good news is that Bethesda is a massive game-making machine, and we have Fallout 5 as well as Indiana Jones and the Golden Circle. With such large titles as these, you could look at them slowing down the development of Elder Scrolls 6 or that they are juggling multiple titles and will keep them all coming.

Could Elder Scrolls 6 only be available on Xbox?

There is also some thought that when it does come out, it will be available on the Xbox console and PC. Microsoft acquired Bethesda, which might change things for PlayStation gamers. Nothing has been stated, and we could also see some cooperation, as we have with Call of Duty, which will be available on both consoles for some years.

With Xbox series X/S and PlayStation 5 being the top of the gaming food chain, there is a very good chance that both will have the latest and greatest consoles before Elder Scrolls comes out.

The Trailer that was shown at E3 2018 doesn’t give any really good hints, but we can infer some things as we look into the landscape behind the title. The 36-second teaser shows a long stretch of mountains in a picturesque ocean and coast. The theory behind it is that it could be Hammerfell.

Elder Scrolls landscape

The other good news is that Bethesda puts so much time into its titles that it is well worth it. Their reputation will most likely be engaging for years. Since its lengthy production, it might be Todd Howard’s final Elder Scrolls installment.

We have a great deal of speculation and a few facts in hopes of the next Elder Scrolls adventure. One thing we can count on is Bethesda’s reputation and proven history of offering everyone a chance to live with magic and adventure every day. When we do get it, it will be worth the wait.
