Everything New in the Latest Black Ops 6 Update

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 update

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 update is officially live now. Season 1 Reloaded has been released for all players on all consoles and platforms, so the first major batch of new content has arrived. It’s the midseason update, but it has plenty of new content that would rival a full seasonal patch. Normally, these updates prioritize multiplayer or Warzone, but zombies is getting a lot of attention, too. Here are the official patch notes from Call of Duty.

Black Ops 6 Update Adds Maps, Weapons to Multiplayer

There are three new maps as a result of today’s Black Ops 6 update:

  • Hacienda (6v6)
  • Racket (2v2 and 6v6)
  • Nuketown Holiday (6v6)

Hacienda is back from Black Ops 4. Racket is a brand-new map once again from the campaign. It’s where the Luttazzi mission took place. Finally, Nuketown is far from a new map, but it will be redone for the holidays. Ran-Snack is a new limited-time multiplayer mode that involves collecting and eating cookies instead of gold. There’s a number of cookies to reach, otherwise, the fullest cookie box when time expires wins. Infectious Holiday is also dropping, which is where downed operators look festive for the holiday season. Those both debut on December 12.

There are also new weapons being added to the game:

  • Maelstrom (Shotgun)
  • AMR Mod 4 (Sniper)
  • Cleaver (Melee)

Attachments are also dropping in this Black Ops 6 update. The patch notes detail a Three-Round Burst Mod Conversion for the XM4 and the Kompact 92. Shrapnel Radar is a brand-new perk for recon and is available now. With it, blast damage from Lethals, Tacticals, and Field Upgrades mark the affected enemies on your minimap. High Roller is a new wildcard that allows you to equip a fourth scorestreak.

Zombies Gets New Map, New Mode

Perhaps the biggest and most interesting part of the Call of Duty patch notes is the new zombies map. Citadelle des Morts is the third Black Ops 6 zombies map, joining Terminus and Liberty Falls. The synopsis of the map reads:

“One of Avalon’s oldest landmarks, the Citadel is shunned by locals both for its sinister history and because it is a base of operations for the crime family known as the French Syndicate. The castle was established in the 1100s on the site of a leper colony, and construction was completed a century later. In the 1300s, the renegade knight Guy de Saint Michel and his four enforcers took over the fortress and instituted a criminal reign of terror that birthed the Syndicate.”

This map will also introduce a brand-new zombie, the Doppelghast. This zombie variant is dubbed “the next stage in the evolutionary chain of Dark Aether metamorphosis.” They are violent and erratic, with supremely unsettling movement “as if each head is independently fighting for control of its body.” It is one of the most unique and frightening zombies in the game right now.

In this map, a new Wonder Weapon, which is actually four different elemental versions of the Bastard Sword, is arriving. Vulture’s Aid is also making its return as a perk from Black Ops 2‘s Buried map. A new ammo mod, Light Bend, is dropping for the map, too. The Tesla Storm is also being added as a brand-new field upgrade. Zombies is also getting new gobblegums:

  • Power Keg (Rare): Spawns a Full Power Power-up
  • Time Out (Ultra): Lasts three minutes. Clear all Normal and Special enemies and end the Round
  • Holiday Cheer (Whimsical): Zombies have festive decorations

Finally, a fan-favorite game mode from Black Ops Cold War is also returning. Jingle Hells is a Christmas limited-time mode for zombies that tweaks some gameplay elements and redesigns the map for the holidays. Liberty Falls will be reimagined and there is a new zombies training course for those who want to improve their game.
