Groups of the lucky few have been able to play the official Monster Hunter Wilds demo throughout the past few weeks. They’ve been allowed to explore one of the game’s locales, experience new mechanics, and even try their hand at taking on fearsome monsters. However, most fans of Capcom’s acclaimed and award-winning series haven’t been able to get their hands on it just yet. Here’s a summary of what’s been shown off in recorded sessions as well as the future of the Monster Hunter Wilds demo.
What Has Been Shown Off
For those who have been able to play the demo, there were two kinds of quests available. One of them was a story quest, and the other was a simple hunting quest. Livestreams and recordings of the hunting quest have been the only ones shown off so far. In those, many changes and upgrades have been shown off. The biggest ones include the removal of gender-based armor, an overhauled map, and more immersive cooking. Players were also able to experiment with the new mechanic of being able to bring along two weapons at a time and setting up pop-up camps during their quests.
Players had the option to use those weapons to take on the monsters that call the Windward Plains home. While the hunting quest for the Monster Hunter Wilds demo was only aimed at one, many players recorded themselves trying to take 0n the others, including the apex of the area called Rey Dau. The other monsters they have been able to battle against are Doshaguma, Balahara, and Chatacabra. Along with experiencing the big monsters, the small monsters and the Endemic Life have been shown off too. All the creatures help make the Windward Plains feel alive, even more than the locales featured in Monster Hunter World.
Where the Monster Hunter Wilds Demo Will Be Next
So far, crowds of fans have been able to play the demo at Gamescom and PAX West. American players will get another chance to experience it at TwitchCon San Diego from September 20 to 22. The demo then heads back across the sea to be shown off at the Tokyo Game Show. That convention lasts from September 26 to 29. After that, the developers will be traveling to France for Paris Games Week, bringing the Monster Hunter Wilds demo with them. Paris Games Week goes from October 23 to 27.
One giant question still remains involving the demo. When exactly will it be open to the ones who aren’t able to travel to these events? Well, if Wilds mirrors World, that question won’t be unanswered for too long. For World, the release date was announced during the Tokyo Game Show in 2017. Not soon after, the date for the public demo of the game was announced at Paris Games Week. While nothing is set in stone, these two mysteries may just be solved in the coming weeks ahead.
Conclusion
While the world awaits more news involving the Monster Hunter Wilds demo and the game as a whole, one thing can be said for certain. The upcoming game is set to bring a truly incredible experience to both new and more experienced hunters. It may become one of Capcom‘s best-selling games if its sales match or perhaps go beyond what was seen with Monster Hunter World. For now, all future players can do is sit and wait to see if a couple of solid dates and perhaps new trailers are shown off in the two big events to come. Thankfully, when the day of release does come, hunters will be able to experience the game together across different platforms.
