The incredible talents of those who take the time to create mods for Fallout 4 are once again being shown off. The Fallout: London mod is officially able to be installed and enjoyed for free to give players a never-before-seen experience in Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic world. Since this mod has been in development since 2019, it’s important to take the time to give the team behind the giant project their well-deserved time in the radioactive spotlight.
The Team Behind the Giant Fallout 4 Mod
Fallout: London was lovingly created by those with Team FOLON. It’s a group of both new and experienced developers who used this project to try new and creative things that they might not have been able to do under the confines of the video game industry. The mod has been a labor of love since its beginning in 2019. The original goal for the mod was to be a small quest, but it turned into something much grander that players of the PC version of Fallout 4 can now explore and enjoy.
By 2020, the team was able to make a map the size of the Far Harbor DLC, which was the third add-on for Fallout 4. The map size for that DLC is one of the largest ones out of all the currently available official add-on content. Those with Team FOLON clearly take great pride in their word. A statement on the team’s website states, “Fallout: London is very much part of the lifeblood of all the members and is something that the team is very proud of.” This pride is well-earned since Fallout: London has been one of the most hyped mods for the franchise in recent memory.
What Makes Fallout: London Incredible

Other than the immense amount of work that went into making this mod reality, other things make it an amazing achievement. Starting with the story itself, it’s a complete overhaul of Fallout 4. It overwrites the tale of the Sole Survivor venturing the Commonwealth and brings the player to the UK. Although this mod is not canon, it still gives the first look at how the Great War may have impacted parts of the world outside of the United States. In the vanilla games, the closest players have gotten to that is the glimpse at Earth shown during the Mothership Zeta DLC for Fallout 3.
This new kind of setting brings with it new factions, a new mutated race of people, and new abominations that have adapted to survive in the radioactive world. Those and more are shown off in the official launch trailer for the game, which looks just as good as the trailers for the vanilla Fallout games. Along with those sights, the trailer is full of classic British slang that makes the debilitated version of London seem all the more real.
Speaking of voice acting, this mod surprisingly features a good amount of star power. Among the cast list is Neil Newbon, the award-winning voice of Astarion from Baldur’s Gate 3. Sylvester McCoy is also on the list, and if that name isn’t familiar, he might be more recognizable in The Hobbit as Radagast the Brown. It’s not often a mod can gather such big names in the acting community, so it’s just something else that makes Fallout: London an incredible feat. Those who want to roam the streets of London in the post-nuclear war world can follow this guide to get started since it can take a bit of tinkering to enjoy the mod to its fullest.
