Faron Wetlands Amaze in New Zelda Trailer

Faron Wetlands in The Legend of Zelda

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom has a new trailer, this time taking players on a brief but focused journey through the Faron Wetlands. This is one of the locations for the upcoming video game, and Nintendo is unsurprisingly ramping up the marketing for it. It figures to be one of the best-selling games in 2024, and it’s likely to be the top-played game from the gaming company. With about a month left before it releases, here’s what we learned about this version of Hyrule’s Faron Wetlands.

What the New Zelda Trailer Shows

The second major trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom showcased a journey through all of Hyrule, including the Faron Wetlands. That showed the reappearance of Deku Scrubs, an enemy/character from the N64 era of Zelda, Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask. They haven’t been in many games, but they call the wetlands home this time around. They are not alone in doing so, however, based on the latest look from Nintendo.

In this area, a singing frog, a Deku Scrub shop, and a couple of Deku Babas are seen clearly in the trailer. The Deku Babas are another enemy that has sort of gone by the wayside in modern Zelda, but it looks as if Nintendo is bringing them back. They’re very much like Super Mario’s Pirhana Plants, so that makes sense. It’s a short, 25-second stroll through the area, but it gives another look at what players can expect when Echoes of Wisdom comes out in September.

With so little time between now and the next Zelda game, we can expect to see trailers like this one exploring the different areas. There may also be a dense trailer showing everything else Nintendo wants players to know, perhaps a little more of the story, before it releases. It’s time to drive up the anticipation, so look for Nintendo to market Echoes of Wisdom heavily over the next 31 days.

Where the Faron Wetlands Have Surfaced Before

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is not the only title to see the Faron Wetlands. There’s only one location in the new game that hasn’t been seen before in another Zelda game: Jabul Waters. Otherwise, it’s all a recurring spot. The Faron Wetlands have been featured in both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. Specifically, those two games had wetlands that were always raining. Faron, however, is a region that’s been explored in many different games.

Most notably, Faron has been a primary region for both Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. In Skyward Sword, it’s the first location Link visits after leaving Skyloft. It made its debut as one of the provinces in Twilight Princess a few years before that, though. The most notable place within Faron is Faron Woods, as that’s where Link lands in Skyward Sword and it’s where the very first dungeon is in Twilight Princess.
