Blade Runner Coming To Fortnite?
X account Leaker NotPalo posted on Sunday afternoon that Blade Runner is coming to Fortnite. That was followed up by another account getting more specific, saying the collaboration would be focusing on the 2017 Blade Runner 2049, which starred Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford. There has been no official word from Epic Games on whether this is true but it is worth noting these accounts have gotten rumors right before.
Some people thought the studio missed an opportunity to introduce the legendary sci-fi franchise during the “Mega” chapter. However, fans were left disappointed as nothing materialized. It would not be the first time Fortnite invited a sci-fi franchise into the battle royale stadium. Star Trek and Star Wars have both collaborated with Epic Games, and both of those events have been met with positivity. The game has often tried to pair past nostalgia with a new-age game in order to drive more people to the game. This would be another opportunity to excite sci-fi fans.

This rumor may be confusing to some. The last time we saw this franchise was when the newest movie was released almost eight years ago. However, the studio may be trying to prime the pump for more Blade Runner content coming. Amazon is making a series based on the franchise and just announced a slew of people being added to the cast. Adding the characters to one of the most popular games in the world would keep the world at the forefront of people’s minds.
In the video game world, Annapurna Interactive is reportedly working on a video game that would take place between the original movie and 2049. If that release is being planned in the next few years, it again would not be a bad idea to keep the franchise being talked about in pop culture. Studios don’t do things by accident. Things are often planned strategically to make sure future projects can get off the ground.
