Fortnite is well known for its iconic collaborations, and now the game has another surprise up its sleeve. MLB superstar Shohei Ohtani is joining the battlefield. Epic Games, the creator of Fortnite, recently announced this news. Shohei Ohtani is renowned for his dual role as a pitcher and a designated hitter for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Shonei Ohtani Joining Fortnite
The game’s latest crossover character, Ohtani, is set to join other sports stars like Patrick Mahomes and LeBron James as part of Fortnite’s thriving Icon Series of cosmetics. On March 17, Ohtani will be presented in two distinct outfits. The first look will reflect Ohtani in his conventional Dodgers attire, with white and gray aesthetic alterations. This apparel will be complemented by a bobblehead add-on modeled after Ohtani’s pet dog, Decoy. Plus, it will feature a special LEGO style for use across Fortnite’s range of LEGO game modes.
The second skin presents Ohtani in samurai-style baseball attire, adorned with visible armor and a black and gold color palette. This outfit is one of the game’s reactive skins, where Ohtani’s right arm bursts into flames following an elimination, adding more excitement to the gameplay. The Samurai Screamer back bling, an accessory seemingly depicting a flaming baseball wearing a helmet, further enhances the outfit’s appeal.
Unique Quests
Epic Games also has something extra for the Fortnite community. A unique set of Ohtani quests will commence on March 18, running until the end of Chapter 6 Season 2. These quests will reward avid players with XP, providing an opportunity to level up your game while enjoying this unique collaboration. Epic Games has got this process down. They know how to create a fun experience around collaboration.
Ohtani isn’t the only superstar that could be getting a skin. News of Grammy-winning artist T-Pain possibly being the next in line to be immortalized with an Icon Series skin have gotten fans buzzing. The recent rap feud between T-Pain and Big Dill has been stirring much excitement among fans. However, the storyline seems to be extending throughout the season, creating anticipation for what’s to come next.
Final Thoughts
With a plethora of collaborations to relish and more seemingly on the horizon, fans are eagerly awaiting Epic Games’ upcoming collaborations. The MLB season is right around the corner, so the collaboration comes at the right time. Who do you think should be the next Fortnite Icon skin? Let us know your thoughts!
