The full list of nominees vying to take home the coveted Game Of The Year (GOTY) award has officially been announced. They were announced during a livestream on the official YouTube and Twitter pages for The Game Awards. It was an event that was hyped up by the well-known host of the ceremony, Geoff Keighley. The man himself reared his face again to reveal the full list of the nominees across all awards. For now, we’ll focus on the big GOTY award and the six games that have a chance to take it home.

Predictions & Problems
In total, Total Apex correctly predicted three out of six of the games on the list. Those games are Astro Bot, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and Metaphor: ReFantazio. The games that didn’t quite make the cut were The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Helldivers II, and Dragon Age: The Veilguard. While all three of those games have been nominated in other categories, fans of those games are surely disappointed that they don’t have a chance to take home the GOTY prize. That’s especially true for fans of Veilguard since it wasn’t even nominated for Best RPG.
What was nominated for that category and many others is Elden Ring Shadow Of The Erdtree. The news that DLCs were made eligible to win every category this year sent shockwaves through the gaming community. This controversial decision by organizers of The Game Awards is the culprit of the DLC having the chance to win big in five categories. Along with Best RPG and GOTY, Shadow of the Erdtree is also up for Best Art Direction, Action Game, and Game Direction.
