Fireworks in Animal Crossing New Horizons are part of a summertime tradition. They have been a staple of many festivals in the franchise since its inception. In New Horizons, the Fireworks Show occurs on Sunday nights in August. Attending these events can net the player some unique accessories and headgear. This guide will detail the history of Animal Crossing New Horizons’s Fireworks Show, what players can do during them, and how to obtain exclusive items.
The Fireworks Show In Animal Crossing New Horizons
The Fireworks Show was not initially available in Animal Crossing New Horizons. It was added as part of the 1.4.0 Free Summer Update (Wave 2) on July 30, 2020. The event happens every Sunday in August, starting at 7 PM and ending at midnight. During this time, the sky will light up with dazzling showers of fireworks. The villagers will be wandering the island as the show is ongoing, periodically gazing at the sky and clapping in approval. Talking to them will occasionally result in the player being gifted sparklers.
When first booting up the game, Isabelle will announce that the Fireworks Show is happening that night. Before the event starts, you can speak to her at the Resident Services plaza. This will allow the player to choose from their custom designs to be used as fireworks during the show. During the festival itself, speaking to Isabelle will also grant you 1 of 4 bopper hats. These are unique pieces of headgear only obtainable during the Fireworks Show. But these are not the only unique items you can get.
What Else Is Obtainable In The Fireworks Show?
During the Fireworks Show, the unscrupulous Redd will run a raffle in the plaza. Each entry in the raffle costs 500 Bells; thankfully, every pull is a winner. The items that can be won are chosen at random and are of the handheld variety, including balloons, sparklers, and pinwheels. Let The Sparks Fly
On July 29, 2021, Animal Crossing New Horizons version 1.11.0 was released. This update had a minor effect on the Fireworks Show. New items could be won from Redd’s Raffle, including the handheld food items listed above. While incremental updates for New Horizons have ceased, players still have access to all the added content, including fireworks. So fire up your Switch every Sunday night in August and let the sparks fly!
