Hades 2: A New Adventure into the Underworld

The time has come to return to the underworld! As of May 6, Hades 2 has officially released on Steam and Epic Games Store for early access. Hades 2 is the second installment developed and published by Supergiant Games. It is the long-awaited sequel to its roguelike dungeon-crawler Hades, with roguelike elements, action-packed hack-and-slash combat, and Greek mythology in play.

Exploring Hades 2

A new story awaits as players make their return to the underworld. You play as the princess of the underworld known as Melinoë, the sister of Zagreus from the first game. You are set to explore deeper into the dark world, relentlessly fighting new enemies using dark sorcery while pursuing the Titan of Time, who will serve as the main antagonist in the game.

Along the journey, the protagonist will encounter the Olympian gods of Greek mythology to acquire boons and various upgrades to strengthen her build. In comparison to Hades, after every encounter, there will be additional parts of the story to pursue including new characters and returning ones to interact with, and new ground-breaking challenges and events to conquer. Numerous opportunities for exploration will be given to see what secrets will be found.

Speaking of exploration, the underworld expands much larger, taking the player through different directions, and exploring various atmospheric areas that make the game’s overall level design shine to the fullest. If you played and explored the environment in the first game, then the designs are very similar in this game.

Since Hades 2 has just been released in early access, major updates will be made to add more content on the way to the 1.0 release. The game is planned to remain in early access until the end of 2024, but the first major update will be coming later in the year so there’s much to look forward to for the state of the game.

It’s been a wonderful day for the new game. The reviews for Hades 2 are already bombarded with positivity so the game is already off to a great start. Open feedback from players is encouraged and may contribute towards more updates that will introduce new content and quality-of-life changes to fix any encounterable bugs.

Is It Currently Worth a Go?

With Hades 2 in early access, the game is not fully complete but is in a playable state, so the question is: Is it worth playing right now, or is it worth waiting until its full release to play it? However, many early-access games still perform very well despite not being fully complete. Regardless, Hades 2 is now available for only PC on Steam and Epic Games Store. So get ready and arm yourselves with powerful sorcery as it will take you through journey after journey deep into the underworld as a whole new character.
