On July 10th, 2K officially revealed a groundbreaking first-dual athlete cover for the upcoming NBA 2K25 All-Star edition. The spotlight is on recently crowned Boston Celtics champion Jayson Tatum and two-time WNBA MVP and six-time all-star A’ja Wilson, who are set to be immortalized for the foreseeable future.
There Are so Many Options – Which One Should You Choose?
The latest installment in the 2K franchise will be split into four different editions, all currently available for preorder. Each is different due to various factors, such as cover athlete, price, and console; nonetheless, all signs point to gamers and fans having quite a selection, and here’s what you need to know.
First, the standard edition will be available for $69.99 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC, and $59.99 on Nintendo Switch; on the cover will be Tatum in his iconic Celtics garb, striking a familiar pose, one could also say Tatum was reflecting on the newfound success, which looks to continue as he’s part of team USA, in search of yet another gold medal at the Paris Olympics.
Wilson continues to add to her star-studded resume with the confirmation that the two-time WNBA champion will also grace the cover of the WNBA 2K 25 edition. This exclusive variation, available only at GameStop, adds a touch of prestige to the latest 2K release, valued at $69.99. It looks to be a prized possession for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S owners in North America.
Still, the catch is it’s only being made as a physical copy, so keep note because supplies will be limited. The cover reveal is the latest revelation for the center. She is also basking in the glory of becoming the franchise leader in points for the Las Vegas Aces, with 4,301, as she surpassed Sophia Young-Malcolm a few nights ago.
Other notable options include The All-Star Edition, which will sell for the retail price of $99.99 on PS5 & PS4, Xbox Series X|S & Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. This edition includes 100,000 VC and MyTEAM content, including 10 MyTEAM Player Cards (3 guaranteed to be 89 OVR), 3 Diamond Shoe Cards, 3 Takeover Boosts, and 1 Amethyst Coach Card; as well as MyCAREER content, including 150x Skill Boosts (25 Games), 75x Gatorade Boosts (25 Games), Jayson Tatum Cover Jersey, Jayson Tatum Electric Skateboard Skin, and a 2K25 Cover Stars Design T-Shirt, all items which look to reenergize engagement, and add to the overall polish of the 2K legacy.
Finally, the Hall of Fame Edition will be available through September 8 for $149.99 on PS5 and PS4, Xbox Series X|S & Xbox One, and PC. The special Hall of Fame Edition includes everything that the All-Star Edition features while offering a significant bonus: a MyCAREER Vince Carter Cover Jersey, a Season 1 Pro Pass with four upfront Pro Pass rewards, and a 12-month NBA League Pass Subscription ahead of the upcoming 2024-2025 NBA season.
History Made for the WNBA
In addition to the announcement, Wilson reflected on the crowning achievement with a simple confession.
“Being featured on the NBA 2K25 cover is a big moment for me and a testament to the ever-growing fandom of the WNBA, Wilson said. “Seeing more and more WNBA athletes scanned into NBA 2K25 to best capture the style and confidence of the league has been empowering, and I can’t wait for fans to experience it in-game.”
The news doesn’t come as a surprise, as the reveal shows a sense of upscaling momentum in terms of popularity for the landscape and value of Basketball as the WNBA is continuing to shatter the proverbial glass ceiling as the product has been drawing quite the attention and respect of many.
