The 5 Best Horror Games of 2025
2025 has been a great year for horror games, from heart-pounding psychological horror to co-op games that had us scared as hell but laughing our asses off. Now that we are about to welcome the new year, it’s time to decide which games hit the mark, defining this year. Here are the 5 best horror games of 2025.
1. Routine
Routine has many positive reviews, earning itself a 79 Metacritic score. Many have praised it for its atmospheric horror, calling it one of the most memorable sci-fi horrors of the year. The unnerving gameplay as the player, armed only with their Cosmonaut Assistance Tool, makes for an especially scary time while playing this game.
2. No, I’m Not A Human

People have been raving about this game all year, and still are. This Papers, Please type game has made headlines for its visually horrifying appearance. This anxiety-inducing horror game has become one of the most popular horror titles of the year.
3. R.E.P.O.- Best of Co-Op Horror Games
When Lethal Company broke the internet, Lethal Company-like games were being released one after another for the past two years, from Content Warning to Pilgrim to Sketchy’s Contract. One of the most successful Lethal Company-like games to come out this year is R.E.P.O.
Arguably as popular as Lethal Company, R.E.P.O. reimagines Lethal Company in its own unique way, setting up multiple quota or extraction points on the map and providing an item shop to level up different attributes of your character. It took the Lethal Company footprint and made it into its own unique horror game, with the same hilarious unscripted moments we love from these horror games.
4. Dying Light: The Beast

Dying Light: The Beast brought the series back from a disappointing sequel in Dying Light 2. With fans disappointed in how the second game turned out, people definitely worried about this installment. However, Techland put people’s worries to rest by bringing back Kyle Crane as the main character and delivering one of the most creative and content-rich Dying Light games in the series, and one of the best horror games this year.
5. Silent Hill f
Now this one is my personal favorite of the year and is definitely deserving as Horror Game of the Year. Silent Hill f is the first mainline original title of the series to come out in 13 years, and has definitely revamped the excitement for the series. Its oppressively dark atmosphere as a horror game, coupled with an intricate and compelling story, makes it the best horror game of 2025.
