6 of the Best Indie Horror Games You Might Have Missed in 2025

Indie horror has popped off within the last few years, and there have been consistent releases of indie horror games, especially since the technology required to make video games is extremely accessible to the general public. Not only that, but making video games has become much easier with the development of newer technology, in which people are claiming we are living in a golden age of independent video games. Here are 6 of the best indie horror games that you might have missed this year.

1. BrokenLore: Don’t Watch – Indie Horror Gem

BrokenLore: Don’t Watch takes inspiration from Silent Hill 4: The Room and even P.T. It’s a pretty terrifying J-Horror experience as you play as a struggling hikikomori (a pathological shut-in) as he’s forced to confront the horrors lurking in his own mind while also dealing with the isolation of his claustrophobic apartment. It’s scary while also keeping you pretty engaged throughout the story, making it one of the best indie horror games this year.

2. Riddlewood Manor

Riddlewood Manor’s cutesy cartoon graphics, combined with some pretty scary moments, make this an underrated indie horror game of 2025. It’s a spooky puzzle game where you explore a haunted mansion, hell-bent on killing you. This escape room simulator is one of the cutest and most interesting horror games of 2025.

3. The Séance of Blake Manor

This would be the counterpart to Riddlewood Manor, if Riddlewood Manor weren’t so cartoonish. It’s another puzzle game that takes inspiration from different classic novels, as you play as a detective tasked with finding out the truth behind a mysterious disappearance in an Irish hotel rumored to have ties to the occult. It’s an immersive experience that pulls you in with every puzzle you encounter and every mystery solved.

4. Look Outside

Look Outside is a retro RPG survival horror game, taking place entirely within a crumbling apartment building after an apocalyptic event turned everyone who looked out the window into supernatural monsters. This small indie horror game is jam-packed with content that’ll keep you entertained and busy throughout your playthrough.

5. PAGER

PAGER is a horror comedy that puts you in a first-person job simulator where you follow pretty crazy instructions from a pager. Each instruction gets wilder as you go on playing, and needless to say, things definitely take a horrifying turn. PAGER is funny, scary, and engages you the longer you play, making it one of the most aesthetically pleasing horror games of this year.

6. A.I.L.A.

This first-person survival horror game addresses one of society’s most pressing issues today: artificial intelligence. A.I.L.A. takes inspiration from Resident Evil and Silent Hill and has you play as a video game tester in a dystopian future, hired to evaluate an AI tool meant to revolutionize the gaming industry. Things take a turn when the AI’s simulations, all of which are inspired by classic horror games, begin to erase the boundaries between programming and real life.

A.I.L.A. is definitely one to play, with its incredible storytelling, classic horror game callbacks, and a completely wild meta twist. There’s so much to unload with this game, making it one of the most incredible indie horror games of 2025.
