Oni Press, in collaboration with Devolver Digital and Massive Monster, will drop a very special new 48-page one-shot comic sequel to “Cult of The Lamb: The First Verse” and “Schism Special #1,” called “The Last Sacrament Special.” For those who have been following the printed stories, y’all will be happy to know that the creative band is getting back together for this comic. Writer Alex Paknadel (“Cyclops”) will once again be working with the Eisner Award-nominated artist Troy Little (“Rick and Morty vs. Cthulhu”).

A Decimated Cult and The Return of The One Who Waits

The official synopsis for “The Last Sacrament” issue paints a pretty bleak situation; following a “shocking and bloody betrayal,” the Cult is described as “decimated.” The Lamb has to reckon with the remaining threats of the Old Faith while their own followers are questioning them. The One Who Waits is returning, and from the comic title, it seems we’re heading to a massive, maybe final, confrontation.

Perhaps the most interesting nugget of info dropped in the announcement involves Ratau, everyone’s favorite Knucklebones mentor, who is back, trying to hold the line, protecting the remaining followers, and fighting against the “blasphemy of the rival camp.” Let’s hope Ratau can survive to the end.

Reviews for “The First Verse” were solid, praising the book for expanding the lore instead of retelling the game’s tutorial levels. With Paknadel and Little returning, this suggests an opportunity to see the internal politics of the cult—the doubts, the fears, and the power struggles—fleshed out.

Final Thoughts: The One Who Waits for March 2026

As mentioned, the book hits shelves in Mar. 2026 with Troy Little handling the main cover (Cover A). For those comic collectors, Rian Gonzales is providing a variant (Cover B) that comes in a Foil edition. There is also a blank sketch variant to commission your favorite artist to draw the Lamb. You can preorder “The Last Sacrament Special,” and while you wait, don’t forget to feed your followers.
