Fatal Frame 2 Remake Crimson Butterfly Remake

Fatal Frame 2 Remake Drops Exciting Launch Date for Next Year

Get ready, horror fans, because the Fatal Frame 2 Remake that’s been teased for a couple of months now has a release date. Koei Tecmo, the developers of the franchise, announced the release date during this year’s PlayStation State of Play, along with more juicy details when the game officially launches. Here’s all you need to know about the game’s State of Play feature and what to expect during launch.

Fatal Frame 2 Remake Release Date

During this year’s State of Play, Koei Tecomo, the developer of the Fatal Frame series, revealed the release date of their newest game, Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake. This is a remake of the original 2003 game, so it’s not the latest installment; however, we do get to see the game in 4k, with updated graphics, new voice acting, and new game controls suited for modern gaming. The game is set to launch on March 12, 2026, on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. Along with the release date announcement, Koei Tecmo also dropped some details about the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game.

Digital Deluxe Edition

Once the game releases, the Digital Deluxe Edition will include a digital soundtrack and a digital art book. Mayu and Mio will each receive a matching kimono, referred to as the Japanese Gothic Right Wing and Left Wing. There will also be black and white Lace Gloves as cosmetic options, and what’s referred to as a Deluxe Charm, though it’s not clear at the moment if this charm is purely cosmetic.

Currently, the Fatal Frame 2 Remake is available for pre-order on all platforms. It’ll be a long 4 months waiting for the release of this game; however, it’ll be well worth the wait. I still remember playing the original game, and I remember loving this franchise so much when I was younger. I expect great things from this game, and I cannot wait until it finally releases in March.
