Physint: What You Need to Know about Kojima’s New Game

Physint is a horror game written and directed by the legendary Hideo Kojima. So far the game, developed by Kojima Productions in collaboration with Sony, is expected to have a six-year development timeframe and will be a PlayStation exclusive. The “next generation action-espionage” game is expected to blur the line between a video game and a movie. Kojima is apparently using “cutting-edge technology and talent from around the world to create it.”

Everything about Physint So Far

The game is meant to be a “tactical espionage action” game, similar to the Metal Gear Solid series. The game does not have a trailer yet, but Kojima announced the game during his 10th anniversary livestream for Kojima Productions.

During the 10th anniversary showcase for Kojima Productions, Kojima showed a few in-game images of Minami Hamabe’s face rendered in an advanced version of the Decima Engine, the same engine that Death Stranding and the Horizon series are based on. Hamabe is most known for her role in Godzilla: Minus One.

There’s no word on the protagonist, who hasn’t been cast yet due to SAG-AFTRA strikes occurring during the summer. However, the game already has a star-studded cast, including Minami Hamabe, Ma Dong-Seok (also known as Don Lee, who is most notable for Train to Busan) and Charlee Fraser (most known for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga).

Speculation about the Game

So far, Physint has lots of speculation, from the retail price to the potential for the game to be an exclusive to the PlayStation 6. The PS6, currently in development, is speculated to come out in 2028 at the latest.

The game is in development, along with a horror game titled OD, also known as Overdose. OD is currently in development with Xbox and Jordan Peele, the filmmaker behind Get Out, Us and Nope. Peele was one-half of the comedic duo Key & Peele, which aired on Comedy Central from 2012 to 2015.

Speculation about the game also includes the story’s premise, the protagonist and the faithfulness to the Metal Gear Solid series that made Kojima, now 60 years old, a household name. One thing news outlets can agree on is that the game will most likely have hours of cutscenes, just like the Metal Gear Series.
