Resident Evil Requiem New Trailer Reveals Leon’s Death?
Resident Evil Requiem dropped its most exciting trailer yet at this year’s Game Awards, revealing the return of Leon Kennedy in this new installment after being absent from the franchise for 13 years. As per usual, every time new content is dropped, we have our super sleuths hunting for any and every kind of evidence or secrets hidden within the trailer. And fans seem to think Leon’s fate is in question after new screenshots were captured, which seem to point in an ominous direction. Here’s all you need to know.
Resident Evil Requiem New Trailer
Capcom unveiled one of the biggest reveal trailers during The Game Awards this year, where they finally confirmed the biggest rumor of the game: Leon will be a playable character in Resident Evil Requiem. The excitement and anticipation for the game tripled that night.
Leon’s return to the series is a significant reveal in the game, as it brings back a fan-favorite character who has been absent from the franchise since 2012, and is a fitting return, bringing the series back full circle as we also return to the infamous Raccoon City. However, fans are now worried, as new screenshots of the trailer seem to hint at a more ominous future for this iconic character.
Is This the End For Leon?
Screenshots taken from the new trailer showcase a dark, bloodied wound on Leon’s neck. There are many theories that fans have come up with, seeing these screenshots circulating online. Some fans have said this mark could be a sign of Leon’s older Las Plagas infection slowly recurring, which ties into Leon’s story in Resident Evil 4.
In a more non-serious fashion, some fans have joked that the mark is referencing Capcom’s non-canon Game Boy Color title Resident Evil: Gaiden, where Leon is revealed to secretly be a monster when green blood oozes from a wound on his neck. An even more comedic theory suggests it’s a love bite from Ada.
All of the theorizing comes from a statement made by Resident Evil Requiem director, Akifumi Nakanishi, who stated that Leon is hiding “a big secret.” Only time will tell what that big secret is, but I am still as excited as ever, seeing the return of this beloved character to the Resident Evil series.
