New Resident Evil Requiem Trailer Shows Raccon City as Never Before Seen Recieving Mixed Reviews From Fans
Capcom just released a new trailer for Resident Evil Requiem on NVIDIA GeForce’s official YouTube channel, showcasing the new NVIDIA DLSS 4, which shows enhanced graphics with RTX turned on and increased performance and image quality with NVIDIA DLSS 4. Aside from the tech showcase, the trailer also shows the newly imagined Raccoon City, decades after the events of Resident Evil 2 and 3, which prompted mixed reviews from fans reacting to the trailer. Here’s what people had to say about it.

The newest trailer for Resident Evil Requiem showcased different areas of Raccon City. In the footage, we see Grace walking through the city. The part of the city that Grace is walking through definitely took design inspiration from New York City. The trailer also shows Raccoon City as a bustling city, something we’re definitely not used to. This has led to some pretty mixed reviews from fans who are unsure about this new look.
New Trailer Receives Mixed Reviews
The Resident Evil series has never featured an area like this, with cars driving and people walking about throughout the city. Fans are split on how they feel about the new look of Raccoon City. Some are praising the new look, while others are shocked by what was shown in the trailer. Fans are worried that this alludes to an open-world type of setting for Resident Evil Requiem. Here are some comments fans have made about the trailer:
“I am immediately alarmed by this,” Resident Evil fan Sakaixx wrote on reddit. “RE Engine and open layout really doesn’t mesh well.”
“Open world and Capcom don’t mix,” wrote EbolaDP.
“Bet its just gonna be a 1-minute long sequence where you can only walk forward until you reach the destination/hotel,” suggested Carlossless-World.
Other fans have pointed out that the trailer features shots of the area during both day and night; however, this was probably to show off the new NVIDIA DLSS 4. All we know for certain is that this area does exist in some capacity, just not to what extent. This is the first trailer to show Raccoon City in this newest installment, as we’ve only seen gameplay sections inside a dark hotel and, as per Resident Evil fashion, an empty, creepy mansion.
Resident Evil has featured urban areas before, but they’ve typically been deserted or partially destroyed. We saw a little bit of that in previous trailers that show a part of Raccoon City with a giant crater in the ground, but to include a section of the city, however small, is jaunting, as we’ve never seen that in a Resident Evil game before.
The Day Is Getting Closer

The trailer highlights how much we still don’t know about Resident Evil Requiem. I mean, it was only last month that we found out Leon would appear as a playable character, although there were so many leaks and rumors it’d be sinful if Capcom were to deprive fans of this treat.
Resident Evil Requiem is set to launch on February 27, and I already know how much anticipation there is for this game. Introducing a new protagonist is a bold move for Capcom, and the addition of a fan-favorite character created a whole new buzz, which increased our anticipation for the game’s release.
With only a month and a half away until launch, Capcom is leaving bread crumbs for us fans, getting us ready for this new horror experience. New and longtime fans will get to experience a different Resident Evil than they’re used to, and I cannot wait until the full release.
