The Switch 2 Is Excited To Join The Phasmophobia Ghost Hunting Adventures in 2026

It’s time to grab your EMF readers and practice your best terrified scream because Phasmophobia is officially making the jump to Nintendo’s next big console. The game that single-handedly convinced us all that we could be professional ghost hunters is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026.

Kinetic Games dropped a bombshell of a trailer that gave us goosebumps! The 30-second trailer had us exploring haunted residents in high definition and haunting visuals. Phasmophobia is coming to the Switch 2 in all its top graphics and audio quality. The Switch 2 is rumored to pack a harder punch than its predecessor, meaning we can experience the same immersive atmosphere as the PC version.

Daniel Knight, the head of Kinetic Games, shared the team’s excitement about the port in a Bloody Disgusting article. “It’s something both our community and all of us at Kinetic Games have wanted for a long time,” he said. Bringing a game that relies so heavily on voice recognition and atmospheric tension to a new platform isn’t easy, but it seems the upgraded hardware of the Nintendo Switch 2 could be up to the task.

This Could Change the Game

The beauty of this port lies in its accessibility because the Switch has always been the king of local and accessible multiplayer. While we don’t know if local wireless play will be a thing (imagine a room full of people shouting “Spirit Box” at their consoles), the expanded player base for Phasmophobia is a huge win. With 25 million copies already sold across Steam, PS5, and Xbox, adding Nintendo to the mix is going to result in a massive influx of fresh meat—I mean, new investigators.

Cross-play details are still under wraps, but if Kinetic Games manages to link the Switch 2’s player base with PC and other consoles, the possibilities and ghost hunts will be endless. It can reshape how developers approach future multiplatform games. For now, whatever game console you play Phasmophobia on, we are being told that the essence of our ghost-hunting adventures will still be the same terrifying experience.

The Road to 1.0 and Beyond

This announcement isn’t just about a new platform; it coincides with Kinetic Games’ roadmap to the full 1.0 release. The team has confirmed that they are on track for a 2026 full launch, meaning Nintendo Switch 2 players won’t be getting a watered-down early access build. They’ll be jumping straight into a feature-rich, polished Phasmophobia gameplay.

By the time the game lands on the new console, players will have access to years’ worth of content updates, including the latest maps (like Nell’s Diner), the wealth of equipment upgrades, and all the ghost types that have been added since the game first exploded in 2020. Switch 2 owners aren’t just getting a port; they’re getting the definitive edition of the game right out of the gate.

In The Mean Time, It’s Krampus’s Season

What are we supposed to do until then? Well, Kinetic Games isn’t leaving us hanging. The annual Winter’s Jest event is returning this December, giving current players plenty to do. Running from December 16th, 2025, to January 6th, 2026, the event challenges players to hunt down Krampus’ jack-in-the-box items. You don’t want to be the one who forgets to bring a lighter, do you? Use this time to memorize ghost speeds, learn how to loop a Deogen, and figure out exactly how the smudge sticks work.

Final Thoughts: The Scariest Part. The Wait

The ghosts are coming to Nintendo, and there is nowhere left to hide. Whether you are a vet or a fresh-faced recruit, Phasmophobia on the Switch 2 is shaping up to be the ultimate portable horror experience for 2026. Kinetic Games is hyping up this launch, and I’m hoping everything is as they promise it to be. Now, I’m going to make sure I learn how to keep a gosh darn crucifix in my hand!
