Animal Crossing: How to Breed Beautiful Flowers

In Animal Crossing, there are many ways to earn bells, such as in-game currency. A popular way to earn bells is by breeding flowers. This action also helps make your island look nice, and finding different flower combinations is enjoyable. You can breed pink, black, orange, and many more colors for your flowers. Here’s how to successfully breed flowers on your island.

On each island, there are native fruits and flowers. For your island, those will be different from someone else’s. You can have roses, tulips, cosmos, lilies, or pansies. Of course, you can also acquire seeds for other flowers that are not native to your island and plant them. However, it’s usually easier to start with your native ones.

Let’s use roses as an example. There are three naturally occurring roses: red, white, and yellow. You can get pink or black roses if you cross-breed two red roses. If you cross-breed red or white, you’ll get pink. Red and yellow will yield orange, two white roses will produce a dark and rich purple, and a purple and a red will spawn pink. A scarce blue flower can come from two red roses, but there’s only an estimated 1% chance of it happening.

They won’t always create these colors even if you cross-breed these combinations. Sometimes, they will spawn one of the colors you cross-bred. So, if you try with a white and red rose, it might grow either white or red. You have to keep trying and be persistent to achieve these colors.

How To Cross-Breed

Cross-breeding flowers is straightforward. First, you must grow them, especially if you aren’t using the native ones. So, if you want pink roses but your native flowers are tulips, you’ll have to plant the roses. It takes three days, in real time, for them to fully bloom. You’ll have to go onto your island each day and water it, or it’ll take much longer.

After that, you can arrange the flowers to hybridize them. While flowers will not wilt or wither if you don’t water them, they will not hybridize if you don’t. Take your shovel and dig two holes for them; they must be next to each other. If you’re cross-breeding multiple combinations at once, ensure you don’t put all of them too close together; the new flower needs space to grow. The best method is to place them in a checkerboard formation. Once you do this, water them daily; the new flowers will take a few days to populate.

Conclusion

Cross-breeding flowers is one of the most fun parts of Animal Crossing and you can do so much with it. If you want your island to have only pink roses, you can work towards that; if you want it to have only black tulips, that’s possible. It’s fun to find all of the color combinations and rare flowers. Discovering the many flower color combinations can also be a goal to set if you’ve finished everything else on your island. With Animal Crossing, it’s always the small and simple joys.
