Warframe is a free-to-play Sci-Fi MMO that takes place in the distant future. In the game, you acquire resources to craft new weapons and Warframes, complete missions and quests, and uncover the world’s deep lore. One of the resources you will need plenty of is called Argon Crystals. This radioactive resource comes from the Void and decays when placed outside it. Once acquired, they disappear from the player’s inventory in a matter of days, and the player is left stumbling to find more. Argon Crystals are a rare resource in Warframe, but with this guide, you will never struggle to find these gems again.
What Are Argon Crystals Used For?
Aside from food for your infested Helminth, Argon Crystals are mostly used for crafting. In fact, according to the wiki, you will need a total of around 225 to craft everything in the game that requires the crystal. Many blueprints require Argon Crystals to craft, including multiple Warframe components, weapons, and other miscellaneous items like Landing Craft components and Warframe helmets. With the decaying mechanic, however, you can’t farm all of them at once like you would with other resources. This means you need to return to the void multiple times within your playthrough to obtain the necessary Argon Crystals.
Where And How To Farm Them
Argon Crystals are primarily found in the void, but they sometimes drop in other locations as well. Some notable drop points for Argon Crystals (excluding drop chances below 10%) are Rotation C of the Lua Exterminate resource caches (10.82%), Rotation C of Orokin Derelict resource caches (19.36%), and Rotation B of the Weekly Conclave Challenge Reward (12.5%). They also drop 50% of the time when defeating Corrupted Vor, which can be found in the Void or during exterminate rounds in Duviri’s Circuit game mode. However, those all take a lot of time. Getting upwards of 3-4 Argon Crystals in minutes is possible with an optimal loadout (without boosters!).
The best way to obtain many Argon Crystals quickly is by running the capture mission Hepit in the Void. You will want to hunt down Argon Pegmatite deposits which drop 1-2 Argon Crystals each. Certain Warframes, like Khora and Ivara, make the job easier by using their extended Loot Radar. Flying Warframes such as Titania and Wukong are even faster. This strategy involves quickly flying through every room in search of Argon Crystal deposits. The easiest- and quickest- method is using Xaku modded for range. Xaku’s fourth ability, The Vast Untime, unleashes a large explosion that can destroy crates on the map. Run around, hit 4, and reap the rewards for minimal effort.
Trivia And Closing Thoughts
When Argon Crystals drop, they are automatically marked with a waypoint for easier acquisition. Unlike many other resources in Warframe, Argon Crystals are not available for purchase in the in-game market. This requires players to go out and farm for the gems themselves. When building in your Foundry, Argon Crystals will not be refunded if canceling an item that requires them. This is likely due to their link to the real-world periodic element Argon (Ar) which would suggest that Argon Crystals are used as a control to ensure a stable, unreactive atmosphere. Warframe has much more to offer than Argon Crystals, and it is free to play on all platforms.
