One of the most loved parts of Stardew Valley is the farming. You can collect various animals to expand your farm, they provide various by-products to help you advance in the game. In this article, I’m going to share everything you need to know about how to get large milk in Stardew Valley!
Large Milk stands out not just for its higher value but also for the growth opportunities it offers in the game. Understanding how to obtain this milk type involves more than milking—it requires creating a strong bond with your cows through attentive care and seasonal considerations.
Understanding Large Milk in Stardew Valley
Large Milk in Stardew Valley is not just a bigger version of regular Milk; it’s a high-quality product prized for its versatility and value. Compared to regular Milk, which sells for 125 gold, Large Milk commands a higher base price of 190 gold, and with the Rancher’s Profession, this can increase to 228 gold.
This milk is crucial for making gold star cheese. This quality of cheese can be sold in the game for 345 gold, making it a great product for beginner players to make! Large Milk is essential for completing the Animal Bundle in the Community Center as well. Completing the Community Center is a large milestone in the game.
How to Get Large Milk in Stardew Valley
To acquire Large Milk in Stardew Valley, your primary source is your own farm. Ensure your cows are content and have high Friendship levels (200+) to increase the chances of them producing Large Milk. Once they’ve reached that level of friendship, you should obtain a large milk when milking them.
Additionally, Large Milk can occasionally be found at the Traveling Cart, which visits on Fridays and Sundays in the Cindersap Forest. Keep an eye out for it in the rotating stock, though availability can vary widely.
Factors That Influence Large Milk Production
In Stardew Valley, the production of Large Milk hinges on maintaining high levels of both Friendship and Mood among your cows. Cows must have a Friendship score of 200 or higher to have a chance of producing Large Milk.
This level of friendship happens through daily interaction: petting your cows adds 15 Friendship points while milking them contributes an additional 5 points. Allowing cows to graze outside on fresh grass provides another 8 points.
Seasonal changes also play a big role in cow mood. During winter, installing a heater in the barn boosts cows’ mood, counteracting the negative effects of cold weather. Neglecting cows—by failing to feed them or leaving them outside overnight—can dramatically reduce Friendship and Mood levels, making it less likely for cows to produce Large Milk.
What to Do With Large Milk
Large Milk serves multiple purposes in Stardew Valley beyond its basic sale value. As stated previously, it’s a key ingredient in crafting high-quality Cheese using the Cheese Press and can be used for completing the Animal Bundle in the Community Center. However, it can also be used in cooking recipes that require Milk, Goat Milk, or Large Goat Milk.
