Warframe is a free-to-play co-op looter shooter. In the game, you fight hoards of enemies to obtain resources, craft weapons, build Warframes, and explore the planets in our solar system to defeat enemies. Orokin Cells are a rare resource found in Warframe. Although they are rare, the player will need to accumulate much of this material in their time playing. This causes many players to bottleneck in progression. With this guide, however, you will become an expert in Orokin Cell farming and never struggle again to obtain these artifacts.
What Are Orokin Cells?
The Orokin were a highly advanced version of humans. Due to their discovery of the void and the creation of technology that could harness it, this species excelled across the solar system and eventually took full control of it. Since the revolution of the Old War, the Orokin have been few and far between. However, fragments of their history are scattered around Warframe. Orokin Cells, ancient energy capsules from the era, are one example of this. Today, Orokin Cells are used to craft many blueprints, mostly consisting of Prime weapons and Warframes. The Wiki states that the player must farm around 1,200 Cells to craft every blueprint requiring this resource.
How And Where To Farm Orokin Cells
These ancient energy cells are classified as a rare resource, which means accumulating large quantities may prove challenging. The planets in which Orokin Cells drop are Ceres, Saturn, and Deimos. Deimos is the least effective out of the three. Playing missions on these planets will grant passive Orokin Cell gains, but this won’t sustain in the long term. Helene, Saturn is a popular leveling spot and great for farming Plastids and Orokin Cells. The Dark Sector mission Gabii on Ceres is the most popular farming spot for this material due to its innate 35% resource drop chance bonus. This paired with a Resource and Resource Drop Chance Booster will greatly increase yields.
Although every boss in Warframe has Orokin Cells in their drop table, the chances of it dropping are uncommon. However, Ceres’ duo boss, Captain Vor and Lieutenant Lech Kril, drop 1-2 Orokin Cells about half the time. Using Titania or Wukong, you can complete this Assassination mission in around two minutes. If squad farming on Gabii or Helene isn’t your thing, then Exta, Ceres will be your best bet. Gabii and Helene will be more efficient, however, especially when played with a squad consisting of Nekros, Khora, Wisp, and Speed Nova (Nova modded for negative strength). Warframe’s “hard mode,” the Steel Path, increases drop rates across the board as well.
Trivia And Closing Thoughts
One Orokin Cell can be purchased from the in-game market for 10 Platinum, Warframe’s premium currency. A reusable blueprint may also be purchased for 100 Platinum, but this is widely regarded within the community as a waste. Fans have nicknamed this resource “Potato Seed” or “Raw Potato” due to its upgraded counterparts, the Orokin Reactor and Orokin Catalyst, being called ‘potatoes’. As further updates get released, Orokin Cells will continue to be used in blueprints. Warframe has a lot in store for 2024 including two new updates, ‘Koumei And The Five Fates‘ and the highly-anticipated ‘Warframe: 1999‘.
