Fighting Ganon is the end goal of most The Legend of Zelda games, including 2023’s epic release Tears of the Kingdom (or TOTK as many players abbreviate it). No matter how players play, and there is freedom in the game, the final result is the same: a grueling, three-part battle with Ganondorf. The great thing about TOTK is that Ganon is available to be fought as soon as Link gets to the Surface and not the Sky Islands.
We don’t recommend that, though. This iteration of the Demon King is particularly challenging to take on even with the best weapons and armor. Additionally, fighting him right away, while impressive and bold, robs players of the chance to experience an epic storyline. Regardless, if you’re looking to find Ganon in Tears of the Kingdom, here’s how to do just that (with some spoilers ahead).
How To Get To Ganon in TOTK
The end of the game revolves around finding Princess Zelda and then fighting the various forms of the evil Ganondorf. The endgame sequence is rather long in this, but once you’ve found the Zelda you’ve been chasing, you fight Phantom Ganon. After that, you can begin finding the real Ganondorf and taking him on in TOTK.
Make your way to Hyrule Chasm, one of the central holes that will send Link plummeting into the Depths. Land at the Cambobatures Lightroot (you can alternatively fast-travel here to start) and activate it if you haven’t yet. Turn south and look for the three Shock Likes in a cavern. Go past them and continue south. Climb the wall in the chamber with the Black Horriblins.
Head south again to approach a new drop, but be wary. There is a Gloom Lynel waiting for you. It is in your best interest to preserve all hearts, so try to sneak and avoid this creature. Continue to the left where the path continues. The ground will fall, but you can recall the falling block to climb back to the top level.
From here, turn west. Follow the corridor and avoid all enemies as you can. The floor will once again fall and put you right next to two Lizalfos, some of Ganon’s more challenging enemies. Head to the north past the Silver Moblin. The floor will again fall, but stay up on the other side. Use the wing glider to fly across to the other side safely out of reach of the Gloom Hands.
Run past the Moblin you find here and go down the path to your left, which is where you and Zelda were at the game’s beginning. Continue on into the corridor, taking out the enemies in your way. Break the wall at the end. From this room, another place Link and Zelda were, turn to the east. Drop down into Gloom’s Lair from there. There, you will finally be faced with Ganon.
Fight Ganon To Save Hyrule
From this point on, you are trapped in an epic duel with the Demon King. In order to save this version of Hyrule, you have to defeat Ganon in three different stages. The first two are in the Depths, and every hit does Gloom damage, so it’s particularly challenging. The third and final stage is in the sky after Ganondorf becomes a Demon Dragon.
This is one of the most difficult boss fights in The Legend of Zelda franchise. The two stages in the Depths require ample Gloom foods or else you risk losing hearts and not getting them back. Your combat must be impeccable to survive and get back to the surface where your hearts can restore as normal.
