An Introduction To Horses
In Minecraft, Horses are completely passive animals. They come in various colors and patterns, and naturally spawning herds tend to stick to the same base color. Horses drop 0-2 leather upon death which can be increased to 0-5 using Looting III. How To Breed Horses
Every Horse has a jump stat, health stat, and speed stat. These are determined when the animal spawns naturally or is born. The jump strength stat ranges from 0.4 to 1.0, health ranges from 15 to 30 hearts, and the speed of the equine ranges from 4.74 blocks per second to 14.23 blocks per second. When breeding two Horses, the stats of the adults are averaged, and a third random stat is added to the mix. Breeding these animals is rather simple as all you need is two golden apples or two golden carrots. Both of these foods will enter a Horse into Love Mode, which is signaled by hearts above its head.
A data pack or mod is recommended to quickly view a Horse’s stats, as measuring them in the Vanilla version of Minecraft can be tedious and inconsistent. You will preferably want to find a breeding pair with exceptional stats from the beginning. Once acquired, simply breed them. If the baby’s stats are higher than the lowest-scoring parent, replace that parent with the baby and breed again. Eventually, you will end up with a superhorse. However, to replicate this Horse in the event of its death, you will want to obtain multiple clones to have a consistent supply of fast, tanky, high-jumping steeds.

A Horse and a Donkey can be bred to create a Mule. Both Donkeys and Mules can hold chests at the cost of not being able to equip armor. Horses’ breeding food of choice comes from the Greek myth of Arion, who was an extremely fast horse that only ate valuable minerals like gold. In the Bedrock edition, the ‘Saddle Up’ and ‘Artificial Selection’ achievements are obtained by riding a Horse and breeding a Mule respectively.
