EA Madden video games have been played since 1989. Some gamers still love to play the popular simulation game in 2024. Over the years, the Madden football game has changed, whether it has been in gameplay, different modes, or rules.
It has been released every year since it was initially created over 30 years ago. Fans of football love to play the game due to being National Football League fans. The real question is if it is still a popular console game as video game culture has evolved since its debut.
Is Madden Still Fun To Gamers?
Considering the amount of time that the Madden franchise has existed, it is still fun for gamers around the world. Each year, it is released in August for PC gamers or console fans. Being that it is the most-known football simulation game, things change every year.
Rules are changing as time has gone on within the real live-action sport itself. So, creators try to make it seem more real as a simulation, too. Not only are new rules being implemented, but upgrades to gaming systems happen as well. This may be the biggest knock on EA Sports as a sponsor every August.
The rule changes include the updated kickoff system and hip drop tackle. It will be difficult to put these things into the game since the latest drop installed the new tackle rule.
EA Sports Sponsorship
EA Sports has been the initial sponsor of the Madden franchise forever. There are always bugs that need to be fixed as soon as the next game is released. To tell the truth, they never get it right, but it is appealing to fans of the game. Despite the glitches, Madden players still turn on a computer or console every day. The creation of Next Generation consoles has kept the franchise going in recent years.
Madden On Next-Gen Consoles
Next-generation consoles brought on a new interest as graphics took a major leap. Frostbite started to display the actual true look of players and coaches. That is until the newer systems came along. Each season, something is different, whether it be uniforms and gear or modes in the game.
Player features or logos went into effect as Madden has aged over time. Gameplay features have seen its good and bad, especially with defensive strategies in the franchise in the secondary. The schemes set up in next-gen consoles give a more live feel with a controller or mouse in hand. True gamers have always wondered if it would ever be adjusted.
There will always be things that can be corrected. Fans will never be fully satisfied, regardless of if they buy the game every year or not. Now, football fans will get a chance to relive the experience of EA College Football 25 in July. That could draw professional fans away from the Madden side of the popular series.
College Football 25
EA Sports College Football is making a comeback this summer. The first installment is set to be released in July. College fans have not had an opportunity to play in a collegiate stadium since 2014. Since that time, NIL was formed. This is the main reason why the college game has come back to life.
The college game is supposed to be different from Madden in 2025. One aspect is that schools do not have to deal with trade deadlines, but the transfer portal is a replacement. This is big in college athletics in this timeframe. Student-athletes can go wherever they choose, adding eligibility to the mix as well.
It is hard to depict whether Madden will sell when the new college video game is released. But, there will be equal sides of the coin as some still prefer the Madden Pro game more. The answer is, yes the Madden game is still popular, but with the evolution of the game making changes, it very well could see fewer purchases soon for either PC or console gamers around the world.
