Jane Doe Build and Guide – Zenless Zone Zero

Jane Doe is an S-rank Agent who is a Physical Attribute and Anomaly Specialist. This article will cover her abilities, team comps, engine, and which disks will be usable.

Skills and Abilities

Core
  • Core Passive Insight – When Jane’s attacks hit an enemy, it causes them to enter the Gnawed state, lasting for 10s. If any squad member triggers Assault on an enemy in the Gnawed state and causes the Flinch effect, the Flinch effect is increased by 5s, and Assault DMG has a chance to trigger a CRIT, with a base CRIT Rate of 20% and CRIT DMG of 50%. Each point of Jane’s Anomaly Proficiency further increases this CRIT Rate by 0.1%
  • Additional Ability Sore Spot – When there are other Anomaly Agents or Agents of the same faction in the squad: Jane’s Anomaly Buildup Rate is increased by 15%. When the enemy is already suffering from an Attribute Anomaly, Jane’s Anomaly Buildup towards the target is increased by an additional 15%.
Basic Attack
  • Basic Attack: Dancing Blades – Unleashes up to 6 attacks in front, dealing Physical DMG.
  • Passion – When Jane triggers Perfect Dodge, Defensive Assist, or performs a move that deals damage to the enemy, she accumulates Passion Stream. Upon reaching the maximum Passion Stream, Jane enters the Passion state. While in the Passion state, Jane’s Physical Anomaly Buildup Rate is increased by 25%. Additionally, if Jane’s Anomaly Proficiency exceeds 120 points, each extra point raises her ATK by 2, up to a maximum of 600. In the Passion state, Jane’s skills that deal damage expand the Passion Stream buff. Activating a Perfect Dodge or Defensive Assist regenerates Passion Stream. Jane exits the Passion state when all of her Passion Stream is expended.
  • Basic Attack: Salchow Jump – Entering the Passion state grants Jane one use of Basic Attack: Salchow Jump. When available, hold to activate: Launch rapid consecutive attacks forward, followed by a finishing strike, dealing Physical DMG. Hold the button during the continuous attacks to extend the skill duration. Release to trigger the finishing strike early. The Anti-Interrupt level is increased during the continuous attacks, and Jane takes 40% reduced DMG. Jane is invulnerable during the finishing strike.
Using Basic Attack: Salchow Jump while in the Passion state generates Passion Stream.
Dodge
  • Dodge: Phantom – Jane has an extra dodge, alternating between two dodges before entering the Passion state. After entering the Passion state, Jane can pass through enemies in front when dodging.
  • Dash Attack: Edge Jump – If after a single dodge, launch an upward slash in front, dealing Physical DMG. If after a second dodge, perform a series of slashes in front, dealing Physical DMG.
  • Dodge Counter: Phantom Thrust – While in the Passion state, press Basic Attack during a dodge to activate: Launch three quick slashes in front, dealing Physical DMG
  • Dodge Counter: Swift Shadow – Press Basic Attack during a Perfect Dodge to activate. After a single dodge, unleash multiple slashes at enemies, followed by a downward thrust, dealing Physical DMG. After a second dodge, leap up and deliver three consecutive attack combos to enemies, dealing Physical DMG.
  • Dodge Counter: Swift Shadow Dance – While in the Passion state, press Basic Attack during a Perfect Dodge to activate. Slash enemies in front quickly multiple times, dealing Physical DMG.
Assist
  • Quick Assist: Dark Thorn – Press Assist to activate. Unleash multiple slashes at the enemies. Followed by a downward thrust.
  • Defensive Assist: Last Defense – Parries enemy’s Attack, inflicting Daze. Press Assist when an on-field character is about to be attacked.
  • Assist Follow-Up: Gale Sweep – Press Assist after a Defensive Assist, Leap up and swiftly slash the enemy, then execute a wide sweeping slash across a large area in front, dealing Physical DMG.
Special
  • Special Attack: Aerial Sweep – Press Special Attack, Jane leaps into the air to launch a series of kicks, then sweeps across, dealing Physical DMG.
  • EX Special Attack: Aerial Sweep – Tail Swipe – With enough Energy, Jane leaps into the air to launch a series of kicks, then sweeps across, dealing massive Physical DMG.
Chain
  • Chain Attack: Flowers of Sin – Slash enemies in a large area in front, dealing massive Physical DMG. Jane enters the Passion state when using the skill, and gains max Passion Stream.
  • Ultimate: Final Curtain – When the Decibel Rating is at Maximum, press Ultimate to activate. Slash enemies back and forth in a large area, followed by a finishing strike, dealing massive Physical DMG. Jane enters the Passion state when using the skill, and gains max Passion Stream.

Jane is best when you can stack up her Passion Stream and get her into her Passion State, allowing her to do more DMG as her Anomaly Proficiency increases while you build her. Her Mindscapes are nice to have with M2 ignoring DEF by 15% when enemies are affected by the Gnawed state, plus it adds 50% more damage to the CRIT caused by Assault DMG. She has a lot of buffs to keep track on but if you can balance it all out and find a team that allows her to be on the field, you can get the best out of her.

Skill Priortiy: Chain Attack -> Special Attack -> Basic Attack -> Dodge -> Assist

W-Engines

  1. Sharpened Stinger – This is Jane’s Signature Engine its ability is: Indulge in the Hunt, Upon activating a Dash Attack gain 1 stack of Predatory Instinct. Each Stack increases Physical DMG by 12% for 10 seconds staking 3 times. This effect is triggered once every 0.5 seconds and can be refreshed upon retriggers. Upon entering a battle or triggering a Perfect Dodge can grant max stacks of Predatory Instinct. While at max stacks of PI equippers Anomaly Buildup Rate is increased by 40%.
  2. Fusion Compiler, an S-Rank engine could be useful since Jane is an Anomaly Agent, it will give her an ATK boost and an Anomaly Proficiency with an increase in the boost with how many ranks you have of the Engine.
  3. Rainforest Gourmet, It’s an A-Rank Engine that will boost ATK for every 10 energy she consumes, it’s a good Free to Play option until something better comes along.

Best Drive Discs

If we want to grab Drive Discs for her: 4 Piece Fanged Metal, the 2 piece gives physical damage increase by 10%, and the 4 piece will give the wearer an astounding 35% increase for 12 seconds once an enemy has been inflicted with Assault. The 2 piece set can go to either Woodpecker Electro for an 8% increase to her CRIT Rate or Freedom Blues for a 30-point boost to Jane Doe’s Anomaly Proficiency. Each Disc will give their own 2-set and 4-set bonus allowing you to slot in a 2-set piece for some extra buffs.

  • Disc 4: Prioritize AP, ATK%, CR %, CD% and ATK
  • Disc 5: Prioritize Physical DMG %, AP, CR %, CD% and ATK
  • Disc 6: Prioritize Anomaly Mastery, AP, ATK %, CR% and CD%

Team Comp

We want someone regarding her passive ability that she wants someone who is either an Anomaly or part of the Criminal Investigation Team, you will want to choose one of the other, or both, to ensure her passive is active.

  •  Burnice is one of Jane’s TOP teammates. Burnice’s signature moves will allow Burn to be stacked as Jane is on the field and while Jane does damage. That being said while Burnice’s Burn damage will trigger, when Jane triggers her Physical Anomaly there will be disorder damage on top leading to big damage numbers. All Burnice is ATK buffs on her Engine and Stats and she will be able to help dish out a lot of damage, its really an easy build to get the hang of.
  • Grace is an Electric Anomaly, which will allow the passive to trigger and with Grace being a wonderful support with her Electric Buildup already, she can help trigger even the secondary effect causing Jane Doe to have a lot of buildup with her Physical Anomaly, the only issue is Grace is a S-Rank Agent so she will be expensive, or hard, to get unless you get lucky. Grace is also part of the 300 summons banner, where once you reach 300 summons you can select and recruit an agent for your team for free.
  • Seth is an Electric A-rank agent being introduced with Jane’s banner, while he is a defender mainly, he can contribute to the electric anomaly buildup with Grace. Seth will also cover the Criminal Investigation Team, so if you put him on instead of Grace, Sore Spot will be active anyway.

Some honorable mentions would be the newly released Qingyi an S-rank Stun Agent, She is part of the criminal investigation so she will trigger the passive, and with her being an Electric stunner, she can buildup an Anomaly and make enemies vulnerable. Piper is another good character, she is an A-rank Physical and an Anomaly as well, who can help Jane Doe in both triggering her passive and Buildup physical Anomaly when she isn’t on the field.

You will have to choose a Bangboo to take with you on missions, a couple I can say for sure will be Officer Cui if you bring Seth or Qinqyi. Bangvolver for their physical capability if you decide to bring Piper. A good one to use will also be Electricboo if you choose to go with Grace and Seth, allowing for more of an Electric Anomaly buildup.
