Warframe’s recent Halloween updates have been highly thematic and spooky, and ‘Koumei And The Five Fates’ seems no different. This update coming to Warframe sometime during Fall 2024 will introduce a new Warframe, weapons, skins, reworks, and much more. Warframe is a sci-fi MMO looter-shooter video game where you acquire resources to build weapons of mass destruction. Not much is known about ‘Koumei And The Five Fates’ aside from what was discussed at Tennocon 2024 and TennoVIP at Gamescom, but hints have been scattered across Devstreams and various community posts. Today, we’ll go over everything there is to know about this upcoming content drop.
What We Know About Koumei
In Devshorts 27, a series where Warframe’s Creative Director Rebecca Ford and Digital Extremes CEO Steve Sinclair sit down for 15 minutes to discuss news and answer questions from fans, it was revealed that Koumei will be a new Warframe. She will be the 58th to join the arsenal. Koumei will be officially shown off at the Tokyo Game Show 2024 between September 26-September 29. Pablo Alonso, Warframe’s Game Design Director, stated during Tennocon 2024 that Koumei is unlike any frame they have worked on. This could mean many things, but fans theorize Koumei will have five abilities instead of four to complement the five fates.
This wouldn’t be too far of a stretch, as Voruna’s abilities are based on her packmates. Also, some Warframes like Sevagoth and Equinox have upwards of seven different abilities (albeit split into two separate forms). It is currently unknown who- or what- the five fates are. These could be many things, ranging from the five focus schools in the game to the Five Tiger Generals in Chinese culture. The five fates could also be Orokin, as they’ve been known to play with fate. ‘Koumei And The Five Fates’ will likely be Halloween-themed based on the cover image and time of year. Perhaps on this Night of Naberus, we will receive another haunting tale from Grandmother.
This Update Will Be Big
Bringing forth a host of quality-of-life fixes, ‘Koumei And The Five Fates’ will be huge. One feature coming in this content drop is the addition of item favorites. Beginning in this update, you will have the option to select weapons and Warframes as your favorite. Another massive change coming in this update is the continuation of the companion rework. Pets and robotic companions in Warframe have always been lacking. With this rework, however, companions will be more viable than ever. Unfortunately, this also means Smeeta Kavat’s Charm mod will be nerfed. Volt and Caliban will receive deluxe skins in this update, with the latter’s abilities being reworked entirely.
‘Koumei And The Five Fates’ And Other News
With Tokyo Game Show 2024 just around the corner, ‘Koumei And The Five Fates’s release will follow. This update’s release date and content will be revealed more in-depth during the show. As of September 4, a new Nightwave season, Nora’s Mix 7, is now live in-game. Be sure to pick up all the Stalker-themed customizations and mods in this free “battle pass”. Arthur’s Kinepage- or phone, rewarded from August’s ‘Lotus Eaters’ update, rings with a new message as well. ‘Warframe: 1999’, a huge expansion coming to Warframe in Winter 2024, is just around the corner as well.
