New Pokemon Z-A Leak Reveals Mega-Evolution For Gen-1 Pokemon

Pokemon Z-A is one of the most anticipated video games of 2025, more details announced at Nintendo Direct

Pokémon Z-A has been on the list of most anticipated games within the Pokémon franchise, with many fans hoping it’ll set the game series back on track from the last few problems that came up with the last games, like Pokémon Violet and Scarlet, who while they did okay, has thrown off the older fanbase within the series, Afterall the cutesy style is just a bit too childish for me. I miss the pixel-art joy of the older games, not to mention the deeper, more engaging plotlines. Ahh, the good old days, right? While Pokémon Z-A is not the same, it is a step in the right direction, and this leak showcases that well with Mega evolutions.

To Make it Clear…

Pokémon Z-A is bringing back Mega evolutions, a feature where a Pokémon evolves from its last evolution in an active battle, with a spike in stats for the duration of that battle. One had to have a good relationship with that Pokémon and bracelet to use, as well as said Pokémon actively holding the stone in hand..or paw..mouth? On their Pokémon. When the player pressed a button, the stone would light up, and mid-fight, their Pokémon would evolve. This feature was used in a few games, but it’s been seven years since. The latest leak shows off a Gen-1 Pokemon, Starmie, getting a mega-evolution.

Quite a Bit to Show

The latest leak for Pokémon Z-A shows that 27 Pokémon will be getting new Mega evolutions for the game, including fan favorites such as Dagonite and  Clefable, now to fair this is not a 100 percent certain list yet, as the game is not yet finished, and it is perfectly and perhaps likely that this information will change at any given time, though we hope not! Many Pokémon on this list could use some TCL from the creators,  not to mention just how cool the evolved forms would be, Some fans have made speculations and drawn up ideas seen here. Even the fact that the typing can change will add quite a bit of excitement back into the competitive scene.

Could This Be The Next Hit?

While Pokémon as a whole is not struggling as a franchise, there has been a lot of talk in the community about the downgrade of the series as a whole with the games getting far more criticisms than they ever have before. Which, for once, is well deserved as the games have either been buggy, empty, or downright lazy, arguably. It’s safe to say that the switch to the Nintendo Switch has not been what one would call smooth. So it would be really nice if Game Freak stopped trying to innovate the game and focused on what they actually have. Reforming their systems into perfections first, will Pokémon Z-A be that?
