We’ve been waiting for it, and we’ve feared it happening (some of us at least)! And now!! The Legend of Zelda live-action movie is set to release soon! Nintendo’s own news app, Nintedo Today (which is already experiencing issues), has FINALLY dropped the release date for this highly anticipated movie. So, it officially comes out. March 26, 2027, almost two years away?
Yes, Yes, Still A Distance
Yes, I know that’s still a good chunk of time for us to wait, but we’ve been waiting for any information about this next step in the Legend of Zelda franchise. First announced in 2023, not much has been told to the public about the time scale, which part of production it’s been at, and who’s going to be starring in these iconic roles (ngl, if they do my guy Ganon dirty, (I will not forgive the insult)? Let’s be real: we’ve received more entertainment from fan-created videos and theories than from Nintendo itself!
Lackluster Announcement
We didn’t see a cross-platform announcement from the Legend of Zelda live-action movie. You had to see the Nintendo Today news app announcement, create an account, and THEN find the movie release date. Too many steps, even more so when the brand new app already crashed with many users unable to access it right now (too many rapid Zelda fans stormed the castle).
So, if you were able to create an account and see the most minimal movie announcement ever, then you’re one of the lucky ones! Not a lot of fanfare for one of the most iconic and 2nd most popular games that Nintendo has created. Maybe they’ll do better in the coming months. Let’s hope so!
Final Thoughts
This announcement, lackluster as it may be, is still a win for Legend of Zelda fans in the world. We’ve been waiting for that next big step for a franchise to take, and most of us were hoping it would happen sooner. So, what can we expect going forward? Well, more trailers will give us clues about who is going to star in these coveted roles. Legend of Zelda fans already have their picks of who should fill those spots and are greatly anticipating the reveals. I predict that in a few months, we will start to see more information about some side characters that tease the Big 3, and I can’t wait for it!
