Legend Of Zelda Games Getting Nintendo Switch 2 Upgrades

Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild

Legend of Zelda is one of Nintendo’s best-selling and most iconic franchises, having been a top seller since the 1980s. Throughout its existence, Legend of Zelda entries have pushed the envelope of the action-adventure genre and have been nominated for numerous Game of the Year awards. Revolutionary gameplay mechanics have defined the series, most recently with their critically acclaimed full open-world entries, Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. In the April 2nd Switch 2 Nintendo Direct, we learned these two games will be getting special releases for the new console.

Legend of Zelda Series Receives Special Switch 2 Updates

Although fans did not hear anything about a new Legend of Zelda game for the Switch 2, there is still going to be something new coming from the franchise. Two entries in the series, Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, will get enhanced releases for the Switch 2. These two games are widely reviewed as two of the best in the franchise. They completely reimagined what open-world games can be, setting the standard for other game makers. With their unique gameplay mechanics that allow puzzles to be solved in endless ways and their beautiful settings, the two games were immediately loved by gamers.

The enhanced Switch 2 versions of the games will start like all new releases to the console, with improved frame rates and resolution. Colors will be more vibrant with HDR-supported capabilities. The biggest announcement is the addition of the new Zelda Notes app, contained within the Nintendo Switch app, which is exclusive to the Switch 2 versions. Features of this new application include voice navigation to undiscovered areas, game data tracking, QR Code image sharing, and voice memories.

Final Thoughts

Although there are not massive changes to the Legend of Zelda games with the Switch 2, the new app looks intriguing, and the graphic updates will be well received. Players who already own the Switch versions of these two titles can purchase an update to the Switch 2 version. Players also do not need a Nintendo online account to gain access to the new features.  As we learn more about the new system, hopefully, continued information comes out for new and reimagined releases for the series!
