LEGO Unveils Massive First Collaboration with Great Nintendo Franchise in 2024

LEGO is finally working with one of the most iconic video game franchises Nintendo has: The Legend of Zelda. After rumors and leaks persisted, as well as outcries from fans who wanted to build the brick version of Hyrule, the toy company finally revealed the official collaboration that fans have been waiting for.

Nintendo is notorious for not allowing its brands to be touched by anyone else. There are no The Legend of Zelda Funko POP!’s, nor are there any for Super Mario, Animal Crossing, or any other major franchise they have. However, there are Mario LEGO sets, which meant it was only a matter of time before Zelda got the same treatment.

Fans had been pleading for some sort of The Legend of Zelda x LEGO crossover, and the brick-building company delivered. On May 28, they announced the Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 set. It allows builders the option to choose which Deku Tree they build. The options are either the version from Breath of the Wild or Ocarina of Time

Ocarina of Time marked the first instance of the Deku Tree in 3D, so it was the first time players really saw this iconic part of the franchise. Breath of the Wild, however, is many players’ first entry in the franchise. It was one of the most widely accessible and beloved entries, so it really forced Zelda, and the Deku Tree, into the mainstream.

Since it features both those games, there are multiple minifigures available. The set comes with four official figurines: three Links and one Zelda. The first two Links are from Ocarina of Time. One is the young Link who hasn’t yet opened the Sacred Realm and the other is the older one who’s awoken from his seven-year slumber. The other two are Zelda and Link in their Champions clothes from Breath of the Wild.

It also features some Easter Eggs for players and fans of the franchise. The Breath of the Wild version of the build will bring in Korok seeds and Hestu. It is also a healthy tree with cherry blossoms. The Ocarina of Time version features Big Deku Babas, an iconic enemy from the game

How Much Does the New Nintendo LEGO Set Cost?

The Legend of Zelda’s first LEGO crossover is not cheap. It retails for $299.99 before tax and shipping. Fans who want it are going to have to pay a high price. It is currently available for pre-order and will release on September 1, 2024. It is the only official Zelda LEGO set, though there are some off-brand building sets for the Nintendo franchise.

It comes with a whopping 2500 pieces, although some of them will not be used. There are two ways to build it, with certain pieces only applying to specific versions. LEGO recommends this set for those 18 and older. It is unclear where the collaboration will go from here, but it’s very possible that this is just the beginning for LEGO and The Legend of Zelda
