In the letter, he praised fans for their unwavering support for the fledging franchise and thanked the work of studios NOUGH and ROUND8 in further developing the game.
Neowiz offered two main items to tease the upcoming expansion. The first was a still of P standing in a frozen town, looking towards a lighthouse. They also released the beautiful music track “Lisrim.” Other than that, Choi only confirmed that the team was trying to improve upon what they did for the first game. The message concluded by confirming the team would get back to work.
Neowiz confirmed they would give the game a DLC last year, barely a month after its initial release. The article also states that the DLC is expected to arrive by the end of this year. Fans can hope for a teaser or trailer even without a proper release date.
The Original Soulslike Gem
For those unaware, Lies of P is a Korean “Soulslike” game created by Neowiz in 2023. The game retells Carlo Collodi’s story of Pinocchio in a steampunk city ravaged by an uprising of automatons. The developers took great pains to adapt every last detail from the original story into the game. This is reflected in the many homages through bosses and characters and the central themes of obedience and lying.
The game was praised for capturing the spirit of a good “Soulslike” with its challenging foes that demanded the players improve themselves to advance. Like the classic formula, players are given equally versatile tools and abilities to fine-tune their play style.
Additionally, the original game ended on a sequel hook. Players were shown a girl’s red shoes overlooking the city, heavily implying that the next game would adapt The Wizard of Oz.
