The BFI London Film Festival will be opening for the 68th time this October, with a new addition to its Immersion Exhibit. There are many exciting VR experiences that have been a popular part of the Immersion Exhibit, but the Games Lounge is the main attraction this year. This new feature in the Film Festivals Immersion Exhibit will have 5 different games for the user to play, from adventure and simulation games to RPG and puzzle games.

From October 12th-27th the Immersion Exhibit will be open and the first of the 5 options to play from in the Games Lounge is A Highland Song, an immersive adventure game exploring the Scottish Highlands this is bound to be a calming yet exhilarating experience. The second of the games is Closer the Distance a dark simulation game that puts the player as a young girl after a fatal car accident watching over her grieving loved ones and using her abilities to make choices to change the past.

Dome King Cabbage is an adventure RPG game that emphasizes stop-motion animation and innovative storytelling. Paper Trail is a Puzzle adventure game set in a paper world, the player will solve puzzles, explore new areas, and fold the world around them. The final game that can be played at the London Film Festival is Playing Kafka, based on Franz Kafka’s novel The Trial this game is a narrative adventure filled with plot twists and difficult scenarios throughout the story.

Conclusion

The BFI London Film Festival is expected to draw a large audience from across the world, and with video games being added to its Immersion Exhibit the popularity will grow. All 5 playable games in the exhibit are diverse and unique in their own way allowing the player to find a game of their liking. While every game is only single-player the immersive graphics and storytelling seem to be endless.

For those attending the BFI London Film Festival, the Immersion Exhibit is a must-see, and for those not attending this year, I would recommend looking to go next year. If none of these video games sound exciting to you then there are many other events and exhibits at the film festival. Interactive virtual and mixed-reality programs and mind-bending exhibits are some highlights of the BFI London Film Festival that deserve recognition. This is the first year the Immersion Exhibit has included video games which should give gamers and just people who like to be immersed optimism in the Film Festival as a whole to continue improving and adding new and exciting features.
