Mario Kart World is the next installment in the legendary franchise. While many had thought Mario Kart 9 would be the title, Nintendo revealed it would be taking it in a new direction. We got a small sneak peek during the reveal trailer, but this was the first real look we got at the game. It promises to be the biggest Mario Kart ever.

While Mario Kart 8 has a lot of the classic courses from every version of the series. The Deluxe version gives an extensive roster of courses and racers. Mario Kart World boasts 24 racers, the biggest roster yet. The gameplay will be what fans have come to know and love, but this takes it to the next level. Races will happen all over the world, with a map of where each race is taking place in the world that Nintendo has built over the past few decades.

Grand Prix isn’t the only mode that will be coming to the game. There is a free-range mode where players can explore the entire map with friends. This gives players the chance to experiment with new routes without having to risk losing a race. Players can also explore with friends and take pictures, making the game a social experience that doesn’t ruin friendships with an ill-timed blue shell.

Final Thoughts

Mario Kart World looks like a completely different type of game than in the past. That’s not a bad thing. Nintendo could have just rehashed another version of their popular racing game, and it would have been popular. However, they innovated, adding new modes and features that had never been seen before. This game will be available when the Nintendo Switch 2 launches this summer on June 5th.
