Super Mario Party Jamboree is the latest entry in the iconic Mario Party subfranchise. The games are known for wacky, family-friendly fun that pits players against their friends, family, or the computer in an epic board game style competition. In the new Nintendo Direct, which focused on the upcoming Switch 2 console, many upgraded versions of games were announced. One such game is the aforementioned Mario Party Jamboree, which was originally released for Nintendo Switch in October of 2024.
Mario Party Jamboree Gets Enhanced
Mario Party Jamboree was released to critical acclaim, with many critics siting it was a return to quality for a series that had been lacking success in modern new releases. They went back to basics, with a more traditional board game formula, smoother mini-games, and engaging play modes. While the game was not perfect, it was a big step forward for the franchise, and evidently, Nintendo thinks so as well, with the game getting a special Switch 2 upgrade.
Several new features will be coming to the Switch 2 version of Super Mario Party Jamboree. Unlike some of the other releases that focus solely on graphic enhancements, Jamboree is being treated more as an expansion with the Switch 2 base game and a Jamboree TV add-on. The game will be compatible with the new Switch 2 mouse control feature, the new audio recognition feature, the upgraded rumble system, and the new camera accessory.
New modes come as a feature of the new Switch 2 that capitalize on the updated hardware. Mario Party mode will allow you to group chat/video chat with friends you are playing with, and friends can compete online as well. Bowser Live mode is a new game that allows players to come on stage and play mini-games through motion controls, voice commands, video, and other full-body movement and sound. Mini games include guiding a remote car, punching blocks, and stacking goombas on your head. The final new mode is Carnival Coaster, which applies mouse controls to take out enemies and play mini-games like spray-painting bob-ombs and wall climbing.
