Not even four years into the last release of the current popular console generation of play, and some leaks have pointed to Xbox developing and experimenting with several prototypes being tested. These things are not done all at once and require a lot of time to get it just right.
So there has been some guessing that the next Xbox could be a hybrid console like the Nintendo Switch, which comes with a screen to disconnect for playing on the go as well as on your television. That doesn’t limit the thought that Xbox could be working on a separate beast like the PlayStation Backbone or the Portal.

The information mostly comes from the latest episode of the Xbox Two podcast. The hosts told viewers that there will be a proper home console with a handheld console being an add-on. However, the confusion lies withing Windows Central Jez Corden‘s statement:
“There’s going to be a separate handheld, and there’s going to be an Xbox Series X successor. It’s going to be two different things. They’re not just going to try and go all in on handheld only; they’re going to do a more traditional console for the Series X people and then a handheld, and the end of the paywall for premium multiplayer games. That’s my prediction.”
The key details have received mixed reception from Xbox owners if they should own a new console after Series X. While the handheld-console pairing sounds exciting, the possibility of a Microsoft version of a Wii U is easy to imagine.
Xbox President Gives High Promise
Sarah Bond, the president of Microsoft Xbox, when she predicted that the next Xbox isn’t going to be messed with and will be the greatest leap ever from generation-to-generation machines. There hasn’t been any word of an official statement on a release, images, or specifications on what we will be waiting for, but if Microsoft does give a preemptive console before the others, we might see another prerelease like we did with the Xbox 360.
