Minecraft and McDonald’s Reveal Delicious Food Collaborations Ahead of Movie Release

Minecraft and McDonald's collaboration

The Minecraft Movie is set to be released soon, and McDonald’s is getting in on the action. Every year, we seem to get new collaborations across different entertainment-aligned industries, from music to film and literature to gaming.  So, logically, food is only the next step to take.  That’s not to say that this is a new concept, however.  Brands like Mountain Dew have been associated with gaming since August of 2007 with the release of the Citrus Cherry Game Fuel flavor and Halo 3.

Ever since then, companies in fast food and other more traditional industries have yet to slow down, making collaboration after collaboration in the hope of getting megafans of a property to try the food or drink product.  Food and drink are no longer any different than other entertainment-based industries.

The movie and McDonald’s have teamed up to bring fast food goodness to kids and 30-year-olds everywhere.  Unlike 2023’s Barbie film, which had more food brand tie-ins than you could count, this year’s big cinematic event seems to be primarily focusing on this one collaboration.  That’s not to say others don’t exist, however.  Probiotic soda brand Poppi also teamed up with the minds behind the film and brought us four different flavors inspired by our favorite blocky world.

This collaboration consists of two options: the normal meal or the happy meal.  They will both be available nationwide starting on April 1st and only for a limited time.  A Minecraft Movie Meal comes with one of six collectibles, each with its own short lore breakdown.  While food collaborations are certainly nothing new, the collaboration this time is important due to what it represents.  Two of the greatest brands for families and children coming together to deliver quality fast food and hopefully a good film, too.

Final Thoughts

After recent events like the Minecraft 2 debacle, this collaboration will help to promote one of the biggest cinematic events of the season and this year.  In other news, the recent Minecraft Live 2025 has definitely made the rounds, but I can’t wait to see how a feature-length Hollywood film adds to 2025’s content lineup.  This collaboration may have been a long time coming, but let’s hope it’ll be worth the wait!
